free magazine subscriptions for professionals?

I heard somewhere that professionals (which I guess is defined as people who are making a living out of audio production/engineering/etc.) can get free audio magazine subscriptions. Is this true? If so, how does one go about getting their free magazines?

free subscriptions

Just get one of those magazines from someone with a free subscription. They have special subscription cards in them for pros. Just fill them out and send it in.

Mix, Remix, Studio, Videography, and others.

they want desperately to give you these things, because it helps inflate their stated circulation numbers to advertisers.

No matter how many times I ignore the "last chance" renewal notices, they not only keep coming, they also seem to add magazines I'm not interested in... (ie: "Remix" goes straight from the mailbox to the recycling bin once a month, and I have NO idea why it's coming here).

Seems like there's not as much worth reading in these things as there was a few years ago... Hell, I used to keep them all in boxes as reference material ... Now I tell my wife to feel free to throw them away anytime she gets enough Pottery Barn catalogs to displace them from the basket in the bathroom.

I was looking through my friends free subscriptions today but the cards located inside say, "special deal 1 year subscription" for $__. There is an option to be "billed later." Is this really just another way of saying that they want to give the subscription away?

I dunno about anyone else, but I get most of them for free as well. They just sent me a card in the mail asking if I wanted it for free....OK!
Now not only do I get the free issue, but another copy keeps coming from when I was paying for it 2 years ago, ...interns love em. You have to give htem somethig for the great coffee!

no. make sure your friend got that magazine for free. There are seperate "free" cards in the free issues, vs. the "pay for 'em" cards in the regular newsstand issues.

also, i believe that the ones i get have both types in them... so double check.

hell, pm me and i'll mail you some.
