Distressor on Snare Top? or both Top and Bottom

Hey Guys I just wanted to know if you guys like to use the distressor on the snare top mic only, or on the top/bottom group?

Top only here, 3:1 ratio, variable attack and release times. The bottom mic stays quick and crisp.

point the top mic down, gate your top top a blip, and run them both through,

this will give your snare body, and the distressor will turn the high angry-ness of the bottom into a smooth grungy snare decay.

thats what I've done

I usually bus them both through a track that has the distressor on it. And usually the top is gated tight, and the bottom is wide open, but lower in level
