Kids in the studio

we've had "pets in the studio" so I thought perhaps we should have a "babies in the studio" thread.

to get things rolling, here is my niece Jaymie-Rose tweaking the compressors for me (she has 20hz - 22,000khz hearing, so I get her to do all my critical stuff)

I hear when babies infest your studio, it's real hard to get rid of them. Before you know it theres drool and spit up on all your gear. The horror! Seriously though, very cute.

My office partner Drew, which is in no way like a life partner, is expecting a son in mid-February. I think we should start a pool to see how long it is before the kid starts assisting. We can do it by the week...in which case put me down for 18 weeks.

Hey look, the kid loves squashing shit with the compressors! The Loudness War comes from genetics!

Adorable. And terrifying.

My 11 year old son, Max, got his first film credit a few weeks ago. I did some African percussion for a movie, I recorded at my home studio & had Max engineer for me. I don't have a pic so you'll just have to imagine a skinny 11 year old with wild blonde curls stting at a Protools.

Man, my kids always go for every knob in the rack RIGHT after I've recalled a mix...

...so I bought them a little Behringer 502 to play with.

I knew Behringer gear was good for something!

Kids in the studio: "So much gear, so little time...."

In keeping with the theme of "So much gear, so little time," I thought it would be fun to share some family pictures with the forum. My wife took these pictures of our baby in the studio and I just had to post them. We'd love to see similar pictures from others.... please post.

For guys who are married or in serious relationships, this thread may help draw your significant others into the studio. For guys who are feeling the pressure to have kids, I'm sorry to say this thread won't help.

To everyone else, I hope you enjoy.

Two pictures of Aerin, complete with captions:

First: "Daddy, this Aurora GTQC sounds so good on every setting. I'm sure I could just turn a few of these knobs without screwing up your mix."

Second: "Daddy, the flashing lights tell me you've got 14 db of dynamics in this mix. When the chorus kicks in, you're definitely gonna need some compression."

WATCH OUT!!!!!!

Oh no, it's ok.

That first picture at first glance actually looks like she's wielding one of those guitars over her shoulder ready to smash into your rack.. which would be impressive, to say the least!

LOL!!!

I have 2 kids, and another on the way. No shots of my kids in the studio: the oldest wasn't ever in my place of work at the last studio (a small commute), and the current youngest is a hell-raiser - I see that shot of your littl'un there poised to smash something, and THAT is exactly what my little guy would do! He is not allowed in the CR, thus I have no pics of him in the studio - quite a few shots with him and us (wife and I) playing music/at gigs, but - none in the studio - my head can't take the stress...

Hopefully the next one will be gentle and easy going - and by that time, the now youngest will be old enough to know better (but not care!!!)

Nice shots THO!

So, come up with a caption for those pictures...

"So, explain to me again, like I'm a two year old, why you want 20dB of compression on everything, because I just don't understand it."

"oh, I've seen those VU meters stuck like that before. all they need is a good whack from one of these little guitars."

"watch this Daddy. if you patch the output of the compressor back into itself and turn the makeup gain all the way up, the whole rack will start bouncing."

After buying 4 VCR's with three littles, you better put anything with a trap door out of reach.

We found Barbie shoes, crayons, Doritos, hair clips , all kinds of surprises when we took
them apart to clean them.

She's absolutely adorable!!!!
