What causes monitor warm up noise?

Often my K+H 300D's will be really noisy (static breaking up type of noise) in the right side when I turn them on, and after a minute or so it goes away. What's causing this to happen? Is it some kind of a warm up noise induced by my monitor control unit (Samson Control-C)?
