Thread Starter | Electronic Drums and the Alesis Trigger iO
Hello guys, I'm new here, and did a search, so please don't yell at me for not doing so! Anyway, this is a great site and I hope to stick around for a while. My question is regarding my current ekectronic drumkit, the Yamaha DTXpress IV. I'm considering changing the module to the Alesis Trigger iO. First of all, let me begin by saying that I don't need built in sounds, because all my sounds are triggered from sampling software (Superior Drummer 2.0). Have any of you had experience with the Alesis Trigger io? My DTXpress module seems to be lacking control. For example, when I'm playing my snare, if I want to do a gradual climb in volume (velocity), it seems to jump from only about 4 different volume settings. Quiet, low, medium, loud. So it's not as expressive as playing a real snare (kind of ironic considering the module is called the DTXpress). I know midi has 127 velocities, and it seems like the DTXpress groups the velocities into a few main groups, thus giving the rapid jumps in sound while playing. I was wondering if the Alesis io would give me a smoother, more realistic sound and playing experience? Also, I'm aware that the Alesis Trigger iO has dual zone trigger inputs.. However, my ride and snare are triple zone... will this be a problem? Or is there a simple way around it? Hopefully there's somebody out there that will be able to help. Thanks everyone! |
