| Lives for gear | Session with George Massenburg Two weeks ago I had the great pleasure of hanging out and working with George Massenburg. The session was for a jazz sextet. It went smoothly and was very pleasant, and on top of everything I got to learn a lot from the man. As those who have had the pleasure of working with George know, he is extremely intelligent and practical, which translated to the session being rather fast-paced. In the middle of all the commotion (and I mean this in the best way possible) I was able to snap a few pictures of the set-up, so I decided to start this thread to post those pictures and share a little bit about the session, if anyone is interested. Here they are. Thanks, Ed |

| Looks like Earthworks... with an odd windscreen.... maybe.... Did he record straight to disk with only pre-amps, or did he use super-clean processing on some stuff? -tINY |

| Lives for gear | yeah. i have never been on any of his berklee sessions, but he would come in and talk to my mix class with prince charles alexander, who also rules. i should note, that studio A live room sounds like some serious poo. he could sort of pull it off ok, at least from the sessions that i heard. it still have a weird "recorded at berklee" sound to it. hard to describe. studio E live room is by far the best room in the place, especially with using reflective gobos. |

| Lives for gear | Hey Shane, that was my first and only time in Studio A at Berklee. One of my friends is an MP&E major at Berklee and he invited me to the session since George was "running" it. I noticed the room didn't sound great, but it certainly sounded better than my room so it didn't bother me too much. Ed |

| Love the setup! SM7 on hats, 4038's on horns I wouldn't say the A room sound is "poo", Its a fine cutting room, Vibe wise is could use a checkup tho. E is a great room, acoustics guitars sound great in E. Cool post Ed!
