Does Melodyne plugin need an ilok?

Does Melodyne plugin need an ilok or can I use it without ilok for a certain amount of days?
Also should I buy it now or wait for version 2?
I will be using it with pro tools mpower 7.1.

Here is the link to the demo version of the plugin. It injects a beep at regular intervals, goes into bypass after 15 minutes, and won't save edits.

As far as the 2.0 question goes, how badly do you need to tune something, and how badly do you want the new features? It's a very useful tool as it is. You could try contacting Celemony to see if a free 2.0 upgrade will come with a recent purchase.

On the front of the Celemony website it says:

"DNA for free!
If you now buy Melodyne plugin, you get the update to Version 2 for free – including Direct Note Access! More …"

I don't use an ilok, I used the answer/question thingy they've got going and I own the larger studio version that came with the plugin which I don't use as often.

I bought my Melodyne 3-4 months ago. You have a choice... register to a computer or an ilok. It is up to you.

When I upgraded computers they have a good system of switching to the new computer though. You somehow had to transfer the license back to them then register the new one to get it switched but it was pretty painless and is working great on my new computer. They definitely wanted to make sure it was off the first computer though, which I completely understand...I'm sure the R&D on Melodyne is insane.
