I saw them with the new guy in 2006 at the Warfield . Most I ever paid for a show $100 a ticket !!! The new guy reminds me of a singer from American Idol , sings with no effort , you can tell hes properly trained . He wasn't bad , really good singer , just not a drugged out stoner , didn't have an edge to his voice , kinda generic sound . But he maybe has grown since then and gotten more style . This album will be amazing cause I'm sure Jerry's been writing this whole time and has tons of really good songs and from that video you can see everyones happy to be making another AICs album ,

I rarely comment on this type of shit, but there's no way this band can capture what it had without their previous singer.

I have to say, I went in with a healthy skepticism, but Wil did well. Considering that the rest of the band is original, Jerry is a huge part of why AiC is AiC, and he's singing more than half the time anyways (harmony and some verses), it was recognizably AiC. It didn't feel like some of these other bands where the lead guy leaves and it turns into a wedding band. Of course you can never replace Layne, and I don't think anybody is trying to, but I have to give the guys credit. It was great to hear them and work with them. I'm looking forward to the new record.

| Jay, I appreciate your comments and opinions but I do think it's a bit of a unique situation in which what this particular artist was going through is what made this group what it was, even though they were fine musicians too. There's seems to be less of this nowadays. Artists seem to be more easily replaced. At any rate, I wish them luck. Thanks. healthy skepticism thumbsup |
