BeesNeez Studio Series "Jade"

BeesNeez Studio Series "Jade".

BeesNeez Microphones is introducing a very affordable Hand built range of tube condenser microphones. The first installment is the Jade. The Jade spares nothing in quality, Hand drilled Capsule, American JAN Subminiature Tube, Paper in oil Capacitors and Cinemag Transformer and all point to point soldering in the microphone.

This mic is very linear, no accentuated top end and is very well balanced as well as being dead quiet.

Here are some Pictures and Sound files for you to enjoy. No EQ or compression was used on any track. A motu 8pre was used as the pre and i am the vocalist (oh boy).

Price is $799USD with a 4 week delivery time as the orders are starting to pile in. I offer a money back guarantee and a lifetime warrantee.

really interested in people reviews of this because if it is as awesome as it seems them I'm going to sell off some lesser used equipment to get one of these. You mentioned that if you were selling these through a distribution network they would go for $2600. in comparison to other mics in that range are they worth it?

and of course Im curious how this compares to the peluso mics (not just on your voice) which are the budget ones everyone seems to be getting these days....however the 2247LE is twice the price of this.

oh and if someoen gets a chance Id love to hear this mic going through a chandler germanium or greatriver pre. Those are what I own so Id love to hear exactly what I might hear should I get this mic.

BTW whats hte price of your other mics and do you have pics? what makes them different then this one?

Hi, Ben!

The mic sounds very nice and the price is very low :-)

How much is shipping to the old world?

I think the u67 in the shootout sound too different from your mic to make much sense. It sounds to me the 67 has the dreaded broadcast filter in - and then some... From these files, I think the Jade is a nice middle ground between the two other mics. The 67 sounds way too dark and the VTB seems a bit to bright in this example. Do you have more sound files coming up? Mabye a comparison with Telefunken AK47/16 or something that sounds closer to the Jade. Is that possible?

Best,

agree with last poster. Id love to see a mic right between the 2247 and the jade. although if the jade takes EQ really well then it doesn't really matter.

The Price is the direct exchange rate of the USD. At the moment that would be 1175 + gst.

Thanks

G'day! I took a second listen this morning and your mic sounds very "Neumann", which probably is good. Your mic fits the music in the clip well. However, I also really like the VTB sound as well, and it will probably be a better match for the hifi modern pop/rnb stuff I do. Do you make a brighter mic as well? Again, it would be great if you were to a/b the Jade with something in the same universe, like an AK47, TM-1, Lawson, 2247 or whatnot...

I think your voice sounds very nice, btw... With some practice and technique, you may well be the next big star crooner down under :-)

Well i definately think so. These mics are every bit as good as others that sell in the 2000 - 3000 price range and other that are worth much more. Just because a mic has a MAP price, it doesn't mean that is what it is worth.

So many people here seem to think that if a mic is expensive, it automatically has Kudos.

Let you ears be the judge, not your pocket.

Second that, the 67 doesn't sound healthy, much darker than should be.....nevermind, Jade sounds great!!!

hi

you've coded your sample files as windows media files. They're not compatible with apple computers without downloading extra software. I downloaded windows media player on my old mac and had nothing but troubles, I decided not to install it on my current setup, I assume there are others in the same boat.

Just trying to be helpful

Curious. Your site states you hand make the bodies as well. This body looks like the peluso 2247 short body.

Other then that, sounds nice.

wav IS better, yes. I have had flawless results with the Flip4mac app. you can download it here

VERY nice sounding mic!
I'll be sure to check it, when expanding my mic collection soon.
I was looking for an open sounding mic anyway.

Questions please: what made you go for the mini tube? Other manufacturers (not handmade, and transformerless) also use it. But with subjectively lesser results. Any difference (in price) from your other mics? (Phlick) Same capsule?
Then, is the powersupply also included? And the polar pattern can be switched without steps? Can you do it for the same price in silver hammer tone coating?
hope this is not too intrusive.
Congrats!

Not this series, i use stock bodies in this series, hence the price. this range is yet to be included on the site.

How come no pictures of the other Bees Neez Mics on the site? I haven't found any reviews etc about the other mics. Just asking out of curiousity. The Jade looks to be a good deal and sounds pretty good from the samples posted hear

I went for this subminiature because it is everything i want, quiet, stable and sounds amazing.

The price of this mic is vastly different to the Max an Phlick. The price on these is $3495 and they are very limited and on an order basis only.

Yes everything you need is included. Mic, Mount, Power supply, lead and case.

Power supply is on a stepped switch but if you have other requirements then of course i can help you out.

If you want a silver hammertone, that too is fine.

Thanks

Nice mic man!!

I told you once you get some damn examples up it won't seem so ridiculous.

Now what's really freaking me out though, is that your U67 example sounds JUST like my modded MXL9000 with MK319 capsule and cinemag trafo. That is CRAZY!

NO way! I have a U67! Yay!!

When I get caught up with my gear orders, I just might have to get a Jade. Sounds really nice and balanced.

What kind of capsule did you use?? Is it a secret??

Peace
Illumination

Hello, thanks for your comments. the capsule is no secret, it is my version of a K47 (pictured below). mine is the one on the left and Neumanns is the one on the right. The reason i chose the K47 is that is so well balance and linear.

Actually the 67 isn't sick at all, maybe over the years it has lost a few db in the top end but that is even more exagerated by my toplees voice. A 67 and I have never been great mates as far as vocal pairing.
