Thread Starter | Peavey AMR Prod. series 800 ???
Hi, I have just purchased an old Peavey AMR Desk (Prod. series 800 with LED Meterbridge) I payed 400sfr (swiss franks...around 350 Dollar...not to much I hope) After the first test I noticed that two of the channelstrips dont work correctly - seems they dont route the signal to any (L+R / Subs) busses - Gain seems to work, signal is routed to all the aux out. Does anybody has a hint where to start to eliminate that problem? Beside: most of the pots are crackle - its getting better after rotating them a lot....is it right that those pots (two pots on an axis) are no longer availible today - how should I clean them? More stupid questions: does anybody know what MIDI functionality this console has? Would you say it will be worth the money and time to restorate this old desk at least? Its actually better sounding than any other consumer level console I own (Soundcraft spirit - Tascam M2600, Mackie...) I explored that I could fold the meterbridge to the back, but I think it would be necessary to remove the whole MB to disassemble the channelstrips ! (could that be true ???) I am aware that many of the parts are no longer availible, so I dont wont to destroy something, I think it would be better to go ahead without the use of chemicals like "contact spray" - is it useful to drop alcohol inside the pots to clean them? sorry for my poor school english! any infos, tips, links would be great. |

I have the exact same desk. The Channel strips come out by themselves, so you should not have to remove a motherboard or anything. I would suggest undoing the screws (don't or get the ones on the back) and slowly lift the channel up. More than likely it is one of the connectors are lose (there are a bunch). If all the stuff is plugged in make sure that the OpAmps are all there. The desk I bought was missing one op amp on bus 2, after replacing that it has worked like a charm since. I really like mine and for 350 bucks you got a good deal. -Matt |

| i also own the AMR 800
really great desk ($350 was a steal, i paid $1300) if i remember correctly, you can take out the screws and then kinda slide/tilt the channel strip under the meterbridge to get them out you should be able to clean you pots easily, once the strip is off i have actually just begun to clean my AMR for the first time (in steady use for 12 months, cleaned before that ????) i am curious to know how it turns out for you gl |
