Thread Starter | Looking for a great midi keyboard with waterfall keys... any recs?
I'd like to find a good kb for recording piano, organ, wurli, rhodes type stuff... While the typically flimsy, light keys found on most controllers are fine for synths, I hate the feel when translated to pianos and classic keys. It just isn't right. I want something weighty and SOLID. Any recommendations? |

Roland VK-8 is kinda cool but more than just a controller.

Actually, look for a Fatar semiweighted keyboard array (found in lots of keyboards by various manufacturers but branded as StudioLogic in Fatar models). These are really waterfally. Maybe an old Kurz. K2600. I think some of these had Fatars.

A 2600 kurz just as a controller? Rather pricey option isn't it?

In any case, Old Kurz keyboards can be had for great deals. I was just indicating where he might find a Fatar keyboard, even if just to try out. I think my subsequent post with the link to the Fatar waterfall controller is probably a better bet. | |

Well, actually I understand the pricey suggestion because I've thought the same thing... maybe buying a Nord Electro for live use, but having it around in in the studio as well for either the stock sounds or as a midi controller for samples. BUT... I'd still rather find just a regular midi keyboard. Reasonably priced. There's gotta be one out there. Is something like the M-Audio Keystation Pro 88 even worth a look? As far as my experience goes, they make pretty shit products. More suggestions please! PS I have a Roland VK-7, and damn I wish it had the waterfall keys. |
