Thread Starter | Thanks for recommending the SM7B After reading about it a bunch of times here, finally got one on sale. Contrary to what some people say, it doesn't sound like a SM58 at all. It is much clearer AND fuller. I've always been a big condenser fan but this is actually very useful on rock vocals. I'm pairing it with a 1073 and it sounds great, less so with a 737sp though. aw |

| I love the SM7b. It is perfect for working with certain singers that are use to live singing. I let them hold it and treat it like an sm58. I always get a better preformance out of rock singers this way. For some odd reason they aren't comfortable with the condenser mic on a shock mount with a pop filter in front of it.

| Excellent mic! I love mine and use it all the time. And I love seeing all the different ways people use them. I think the latest Deftones vid shows an SM7B being used as a hihat mic, or perhaps it's some semi-distant snare mic. Anyways... At the risk of offending, anyone who says it is very similar to the SM57/58 needs a thorough ear-cleaning imo. As far as dynamic mics go, they don't get much different. |

| Everyone knows there new Heil drum mics coming out, right? There's going to be a PR38...which is like a side address PR30 with switchable high pass filters. This could be my new snare mic. I'm not a fan of the PR20/22 on snare...too wooly for my tastes. I much prefer the PR30 with it's crisp and tight flavor. Brad
