Thread Starter | Worth running certain sounds through my tape deck?
No fancy reel-to-reel jobby here... A standard Technics early 90s tape deck, ala: ![]() Not quite that one, but very similar... Anyhow, I'm at work right now, but was wondering how to experiment with getting some nice crunch on certain drum tracks in my tunes. I have a very simple setup, but I DO have an old Technics tape deck laying around and wondered... If I got some old cassette tapes and recorded certain drum parts through the deck and then put it back on to my computer again, would it (or could it?) add a nice crunch to the drums? Would it even be desirable? ... I'm thinking more for lo-fi ambient tracks really... Has anyone tried this? Can you actually get nice results from it? Just wondered really... As I can't really try it out for a week or so anyhow, and just wondered what everything thought about it! |

Try it. Could just be the ticket. There's apparently more than a couple of sound snippets running around in Massive Attacks 'Mezzanine' that have been on cassette......for what its worth......you might find timing issues though, as it will drift.......chop and lign up, chop and lign up .....have fun.
