Apogee or RME AD/DA for Cubase/Nuendo

Im confused! Please help!

I use a PC and wish to use Cubase and/or Nuendo. At some stage I may purchase ProTools 003 to have the option in the studio.

I also have a few synths, pres which need analog inputs on which ever card I use. Lets say I need 8 analog inputs.

What I would like to know is if I should go with any of the RME options or the Apogee Rosetta options (assuming price for component needed is not an issue).

I have had these suggestions:

1. Multiface II which has a 8in/8out breakout box + PCI card = $1300
2. Fireface 800 = $1700
3. Apogee Rosetta ????
4. Other Apogee / RME options (Please suggest...)

Thanks and Im looking for the best sound I could get and willing to spend as I have good mics, preamps, nice room, good monitoring. The chain is bugging me and I really need to get the best option.

Thanks very much and I hope you can advise me.

I love my fireface 800. I know alot of people that say its a great pair for nuendo (especially on PC). And you could get one for alot cheaper than 1700 if you dont
mind going the used route. I payed about 1100 for mine, in great shape.

I dont mind using that route, but I really want to know a ABCD or E comparison between the units and if there can be an apples vs apples comparison......

We get great results with the FF800, and it's a lot more versatile than the Multiface, as far as monitoring, preamps, etc. The Apogee stuff is definitely top notch, but a bit colored (darker, a bit of sonic distortion - JMO) for me. It's also pricey.
