The TapeOp board has been down for over a week now. Just before it crashed and died, I had an email notification of a PM, but didn't get there in time to see what that message was about. Hope it wasn't important!

Doesn't it come every 3 months?

I've been waiting for their monthly e-zine, but haven't seen it yet...
(I need to know where to pick up the sE mics I won)
Kidding...

Just in case Tape Op folk are lurking here, I have had the hardest time getting a change of address through. Been to the web site, tried emailing, nothing works. I really miss the mag, it's been just over a year now and I have not been able to get through your system.

Whaddup?

For the address thing. It took me forever to figure out that on the update address initial form, they want your old address.

It was going to my mother in law's house, which was workable. I'm just glad it didn't say "f-u-c-k" on the cover or anything like that.

Try that.

edit: I prefer my curses altered, yet uncensored.

Tape Op

Yeah, sorry the board is down. I'm not even sure what it is this time, we're trying to fix it and/or decide if it should be moved to a new host again or what. I want to add more catagories like this site has so we'll see.

In the meantime, all are welcome to attend TapeOpCon 2005 in New Orleans, June 10-12. www.tapeopcon.com We'd like to see as many of you as possible there, remember there are group discounts! Ask Craig Schumacher about that, 520-241-5140. It's looking to be fun but man, what a lot of work...

As far as change of address, missing subs, etc: remember that if you have a free subscription there is no guarantee it will show up. The post office seems to do a fair job of losing about 100 of each issue... There are paid subs through www.tonevendor.com for US and abroad. If you have tried the change of address form on our site and have waited at least several months and not received an issue email subscriptions@tapeop.com. AJ will add you to the database when the next mailing is getting ready (every two months) but will send an automated reply in the meantime. Please do not email me about subscription stuff, all I can do is forward it to AJ as I have no access to the master list!

One thing to please remember: Tape Op is not owned by a publishing company with nice offices and assistants, it's owned by me and John Baccigaluppi and we both run studios full time to make a living. We work our asses off doing the mag as well, and one of the reasons it's free is the low overhead. We try to deliver a mag that is something we would subscribe to and read ourselves, and hope that other folks dig it. Thanks for reading it and for posting on Gearslutz (one of the few sites I ever check).

Thanks,
Larry Crane, editor, etc...

The amount of excellent information packed into it is stunning, nevermind the price. Thanks Larry & Co.

I love Tapeop. Hope you guys get it going soon. Thanks for all your efforts.

You guys should add a section called studio makeover like SOS. They always do overseas studios, we need an American version. I volunteer to review some Southern Cal studios.

Keep up the good work.

Te magazine and the conference are great.

I'll be on the drum recording session if anyone's coming to New Orleans this year.

what ever happened to the tapeop ribbon group buy? I ordered two and I did pay and have gotten nothing. I have tried to contact PPA to no avail.

Shit man, I'm a TapeOp Freak!!

Since starting my subscription a year ago or so, I've collected almost every back issue so far I could get my hands on through Quimby's and ToneVendor.

Every other recording rag is nauseating in comparison! dfegad

Latest word from shipper is that the arrival date is now June 11 (firm!), not June 6 as reported earlier. I don't know if this will placate the masses. I apologize again for the delayed production and shipment.

*

*

So let’s pretend this is real for a moment…. that would put the mics in Seattle about *June 15th or 16th, then 2-7 days later to you, depending on how fast we can get that many mics shipped, and how far from Seattle you live.

*

Light at the end of the tunnel?

I don't like to be the lone voice of dissent and my mother DID inform me on the proper protocols to follow when one has anything less than something nice to say, but come on now. I mean, is it really that tough? The 11 year old gamers in my neighborhood can build message boards that work.....I'm not trying to be a dick but I have said it before....if you don't know how to do something or simply don't have the time, there is no shame in passing it off to someone who does.

I'm a jerk....fire at will if you must.

MYSPACE yikes

I caught it lucky. AJ opened it just long enough for me to post that. I was actually replying to the thread about the end rant when he locked it again. Damn!
