By the way Paul, are you going this year? If so, be sure to track me down and say hey.

The new myspace forum is horrible. Building a free/low cost php based forum is not hard. Believe me, I'm not technical and even I can get one up and running. Shame really. What a great community it "was"

Hey folks,
We had a meeting Monday moring to discuss the future of the TO board. They're going to be redesigning the whole thing. The problem is that there was just too much traffic on the site. The new board should help alleviate some of the problems. Until the new board gets up and running (and I don't know when that will be--it's going to be a pretty involved undertaking), the current board is going to remain locked with the new "Black Hole" section operational. That's what I was told at the meeting. I'll try to keep you all posted with any updates that seem relevant.
By the way, the conference was great. It gets better every year. Not only from an organizational and content standpoint, but just in terms of the hang. Thanks to all of you who went and especially those who participated. Drumsound and Ross Hogarth immediately come to mind.

I am definitely going to have to hit the Tape Op confernce one of these days. I keep buying gear (beer?!?) instead of plane tickets! Where is it next year anyway? Hopefully closer to my neck of the woods.

We had a blast.

Here we go again. There HAS to be a way to get that forum up and running solid. Sell some ads or whatever it takes.

The board is about to undergo some major major changes. Perhaps Hillary is putting the new board up right now.

More specific forums, more people moderating and keeping things on topic and on track.
Hopefully a secure server...

I miss the Tape Op board as well but if it had'nt have been for the site being down every other day, I'd never have found gearslutz. I get the mag every two months (wish it was every month) and hope to see the site up and running in the near future!

The board was hacked, that's why it's down.

| We're trying!
We are still working on getting the board back up. It was on a server at John's studio and the bandwidth was killing their connection, then some dork ass shitheads hacked it and ****ed up the mainpage. We're setting up a new hosting and redesigning the site soon. Please be patient!
I don't need to hear how some kid can do this, blah blah. It's all about the amount of useage and the amount of info processed daily (several GB). If it was so easy we'd have no problems, duh. Plus we'll need time to redesign the site... No one is full time at this, plus we make no money doing the site, and when pressing concerns like the new issue or TapeOpCon come up guess what gets priority?
And all this Tape Op Message Board down time just gives you more time to cruise Gearslutz. So why complain?

You've obviously never seen "Resolution" out of England... it's the best audio magazine I've seen in recent times. Neither can hold a candle to the old Recording Engineer and Producer mag or the old "db" mag... both of which were put out of business by "People" .... uhhhhh.... I mean "MIX"

Missing that special someone to once again spend all my spare moments with. When I'm supposed to be working, when I'm supposed to be sleeping or eating. Maybe you've seen her...she's got a yellowish-mustardy complexion.
its been too long. pretty please, come back!
