| Lives for gear | Need to make a synth sound.
I am trying to make a synth patch that I can only describe as 'Blast Off'. Such as is on the intro of Kelly Osbourne's 'One Word'. Its the continually rising pitch and noise sound, with the filter opening up and a sort of modulating 'wibble'. I have been trying with my limited synth programming skills but so far all I get is cruddy, annoying whoosh sounds. Can any guru give me a few pointers? I am using mainly soft synths. I have Reaktor4, Pro53 and Albino2. Thanks.

I'll take a guess here... i'm not really sure of the sound you're looking for, but you could try feeding some white noise into a very resonant lowpass filter (maybe bandpass?) a fairly quick lfo on the cutoff frequency and a nice manual sweep up? if it's "too much" sound, try assigning the same lfo to the output vca as well.. hope this helps : )

Cool. Thanks guys. Using portamento seriously never crossed my mind. The sound isn't all white noise though. Its s definate tone that appears to rise indefinately . |
