Craigslist

Personally, I'm a fan of DIY, as a lot of the prefab units have a tendency to really suck out the character of a voiceover.

addynicky, how are you liking you clearsonic? I see you've modded it a bit (how the hell do you get in there with all the stuff in that room?)

nothing more uncomfortable than singing in a vocal booth without any reverb.. im working on one, it consists of the aluminum shells of a gogo dancers cage. its round and about 7 1/2 feet high, 6' diameter

The worst for me was having to work with a product from a very good voice actor who recorded and otherwise excellent piece.

That the studio decided to record her in a 4x4 whisper room (I think) gave the read such a deadness to it that a lot of the energy and character she put into the read was totally sucked out (maybe that's why some of these prefab booths are called "sound suckers", lol!).

When she heard the playback (a few days after the initial recording) she was beyond P.O.'ed, and with good reason.

I get in a big room, put some gobos/absorber-panels around the singer (if necessary), record

vocalbooths sound like sh*t to me 99% of the time!

I have major space constraints in my studio...but I'm doing the best with my 4x4 booth. It was a whisper room which I gutted and treated differently with auralex absorption/q'fusor diffusor and a wooden floor. It was really dead before (almost like an anachoic chamber!), but now I'm pretty content with the results I get. Wish I had a bigger space, but gotta work w/ what I got!!!

Thanks for the advice, but the merits of having, or not having vocal booths is not what this threads about. Why do these kinds of things ALWAYS happen to threads?

Ok, I´ll just add an "I" in front of my post....this way you get an idea what my (lack of) vocalbooth could look like....no recent pics though..sorry for that

I´m just adding perspective and a highly subjective opinion...not trying to be rude in any way
