If you had 1 question to ask Metallica...

Ok so here is a random thought...

If you had 1 question to ask the guys from Metallica, what would it be?!??!

I know mine, and its, "what happened between the black album and death magnetic to make you want to change your sound so much"

"Can I have a few million bucks?"

That makes the most sense to me, collectively these cats have got to be worth well over a billion dollars...!

I'd like for them to just admit that they'd much rather stop making such tired, silly music and do something else but they can't walk away from the $$ and unquestioning adoration.

"Why did you ban me from Napster back in the day? I owned ALL your albums (some i bought BOTH cassette and CD) and I just thought having MP3 versions was awesome and I could listen on my computer. Then I got that message. 'You have been banned per Metallica's request blah blah blah blah' I forget the exact wording, but... I never bought another one of your albums again. (but that was mostly cause they started to suck)"

"Can you give me your Triple Rectifiers?"

No seriously, I have no idea what I would've asked. Since it's Metallica, I guess I'd ask them to give me guitar lessons.

I sould ask them what they thought of all the jerks and haters who feel the need to say something ugly instead of just saying nothing at all, like Mommy said. To which they would reply, "F**k 'em. Kill 'em all."

Honestly, who wants to hear any more Metallica bashing? Unless you can do better, just say nothing. Damn.

I think I'd ask about the mid section (break down and the clean guitar with the volume swells/solo) of the song Masters of Puppets and how that came about, that beautiful section gives me goosebumps every time I hear it.

Oh and I would ask them if I was the only person in the world that fell for the stage antics during the cunning stunts tour - I went with a bunch of my best friends and totally freaked shit when the stage guy fell down from the lights and ran around on fire and everything exploded. I said to my friends 'omg they are all dead, we're gonna be on the news, this is history!!! **** ****!' and they calmly looked at me and said 'wait.. you think this shit is real???' I only realised it was fake during the long car ride home when they were all still laughing at me flapping around thinking the world was ending.

good memories!

how many times do they think they've made cliff burton rollover in his grave?

james, will you please stop the crooning?

can you give up on trying to be "epic" and just find a good riff w/balls?

oh, i guess that's more than one question.

hmm..

Honestly, this album sucks. Its like their a rehash of their former glory. There is no substance on this album compared to even the Black album. Its Metallica trying to sound like Metallica...... Which makes it sound terrible.

And then to have that mix done to the music, coupled with that mastering job......

My god man, Im not going to sit here and pretend it rules, because it doesnt. Its bordering on sad.

I am not a huge Metallica fan but I know what I like from the band, and this definitely isnt it.

Now before you go off on the whole ITS METALLICA BRO YOU CANT DISS THEM THEIR THE SHIT, get over it. This record while marginally better than St Anger, is nowhere near as good as say, Ride the Lightning. IMO this bands best days are far far behind them.

my Q:
"Do you believe in what you are doing? As in, does it have any meaning beyond the paycheck?"

Not asked cynically, accusatorially, or disrespectfully. Given the chance at a candid question, that's what I would honestly like to know.

I'd ask, "Why the hell did you guys go and get a shrink?" Honestly. Should have told whoever said that to "F-off". Even though musically they were in a slump (one that they have still not recovered from), who would want to see (and I'm speaking of those who remembered them as the powerhouse they were) the biggest metal act ever break down and cry? I knew they'd not be returning from that. Sad, really. RTL and AJFA are favorites of mine.

My question..

Can you guys go back to living in a cargo van and strip out all the unecessary bullshit in your life like collecting art and shopping on Rodeo drive..?

Cause, whatever it is .. It completely pussified your music..

This thread depresses me.

Well, that's overstating it.

Do people really get this bent out of shape about the doings of some metal band? How can anyone over 18 not shrug this sh*t off?

Sorry if that comes off a little harsh. Honestly though, it confuses me.

I know what you mean. When I read things like these foaming at the mouth posts, I just have to remind myself that it's the internet.
