i was 15 had a papper route and saved up my money to go to detroits biggest studio at the time off of 13 mile (way out)...recorded my first song.

In the late 70s... using this baby:

You could record two separate tracks on each sides of the tape, and play them either independently or simultaneously: making a two-track mix... oh boy, many, many hours spent with this box. And THEN if you got two of those connected: the endless stream of mix-downs and bounces. Each adding a glorious veil of magnetic hiss ;-)

Cool

i started playing with tape recorders (my favorite toy back then) when i was 9 and a couple of months later was trying to sync two mono recorders to do stereo (by pressing rec at the same time on both)
at 13 i was bouncing between two recorders ,at 14 i got my first fostex 4track and by 15 i was working with midi and drum machines, at 19 i was working at an ssl-g equipped studio,at 22 decided to make my own personal studio.. adats, daws and you know... i am a week from turning 38 now!

recorded my own metalcore band in 94 (when i was 15) with an old crappy 8 track mixer (i forgot the name) and some crappy microphones we could borrow straight to my marantz 2 track cassettedeck (wich i still own and use for playback of old tapes). I played bas and was the 'engineer' at the same time, so ...

anyway, that demo did deliver our first concerts:-)
