HUI question

i am considering purchasing a control surface for PT, but that works with DP. i would like to go HUI.

as i understand this is the only 3rd party format that PT accepts. let me know if i am wrong about this.

does the HUI protocol only allow 8 faders to be controlled at once? so if i get another fader banks, it would not be usable while my original 8 are in use?

is the d8b a bad idea?

I almost bought the D8B last week but after reading so much about how the faders fail and the D8B not having a lot of the features that the original HUI had I passed on it.

you can connect more than one hui device to protools at a time but each device needs it own midi port. I seen a guy working 2 D8Bs with protools and thats what had me interested in it.

Also for some reason people seem to think that the A/D/A conversion in the Mackie is not that good and that with todays technology if you were using the D8B for monitoring that it would be a step in the wrong direction! For Eye Candy and basic control of Protools it would work............Just as not as good as something like the MCU wich has more functionality than the D8B.....

Eye Candy or Better Work Flow????? I chose to keep what I had until the came up with a controller that looks like the D8B but worked like the MCU and that is not going to have me taking out a 3rd Mortgage!

Hate to say this but...I have a behringer bcf2000 and you can hook 2 of them up and run the first one like I do through USB with pro tools..It's been working for 4 years with no problems...yes HUI

thanks for your resonse!

this will be in a private mix room. although my current setup is all about impressive looking... i am not concerned with that kind of thing anymore.

maybe d8b would be a good bet if i got it for an awesome price (sub 500)
