| Lives for gear | Drum Session Clip-High/Low end Gearslutz Gear Hi all I am finally pretty pleased with a drum session going straight to harddrive-where for the first time I used compression on every mike while tracking- I did 2 weeks ago for a client-who has allowed me to put up a song on my myspace-still in progress-the clip is of drums and electric bass. Gear used was gearslutz pimped as follows- you can hear song by going to my homepage via gearslutz tab-is called Carnival Ride- is a dirty blues rock type number: Gear: Conversion-all audiofire 12 clocked by cranesong Hedd-all Lynx synchro off. Snare-Beyer 201->sebatron VMP->sebatron nitrous-Audiofire Kick-Sen E602->Pacifica->Speck ASC EQ->sebatron nitrous-Audiofire Overheads-Beyer M160->Adl 600->Buzz SOC1.1-> Audiofire front kick- Pearlman TM1 high cut in->seb VMP-Buzz essence->Audiofire Tom 2 ->SM57-Pacifica-Portico 5043-Audiofire Rooms-Blumlein Fathead 11-Sebatron VMP-ART PRO VLA11-Audiofire Electric Bass-DI-Chameleon Labs 7602-ART PRO VLA 11-Audiofire The only mixing has been using chameleon labs 7602 eq on snare and kick-all other mikes only panned-no eq or further compression. The M/S Blumlein Fatheads I coded to XY stereo. The entire mix I ran out DAW via Hedd through ADL600/Buzz SOC1.1/neve Portico 5043 back into DAW via Hedd with pentode at 5 and tape at 3.5 . I am rather amazed at how little I have needed to do to anything other than the kick and snare. Anybody else digging results using compression on all mikes when tracking? I really thought about the sonics of all my compressors and matched them to the mikes/drum kit- and only used about 3/4 db reduction reasonably softly on each line in. I wanted to try to get a heavy sound straight to harddrive-hope I got there. Cheers GJ Newcastle/OZ |

| Sounds like you got some phase type issues on the overheads. ![]() |

| Lives for gear | Mixed electric guitars in Ok- just placed in the electric guitars into mix. I assume that you do not like the sound of cymbal wash Mr Adams? Cymballs and ride do form part of the instrument no? GJ Newcastle/OZ |
