Nuendo Asio Driver Help

Hey there gang,

SInce there is such a wealth of able minded people on this board, I figured i'd turn here for a little helping hand. Nuendo.com aswell as steimberg and Rme have been hardly helpful so if any one has any ideas....... bring em forth.

Here is what I'm running

Mac Quad G5 tower 2.5ghz
6 gb ram
Mac OSX 10.4.11
RME FF800 build 2.62a
Nuendo 2 2.20.39

Basically, Nuendo Hangs when I try to change the buffer settings from 256. I cannot get this to work and I have been battling this for over a month. I have tried every reinstall, driver update, test I can think of.

Any ideas would be helpful.

I'm also having trouble with clocks syncing... I wonder if these two problems are related.......

Thanks to all.

Are you sure your rme is suposed to allow you to change the buffer size when an audio app (nuendo here) is in use?
It might be that...

Playing back your tracks in realtime through your nearfields re-capturing it by micing the speaker mix is not the best method of mixdown. w/Nuendo I usually stick with the 'export'->'AudioMixdown' method. Works like a charm.

The only low latency DAW available for an Apple is Logic.

Apple won't open their Core Audio specs to competitors such as Motu or Steinberg so the lowest usable latency is around 12 ms.

The work around is to use the RME Mixer but that doesn't work for VSTi's or VST FX.

I switched from a Mac G5 to a PC once I sold my console in 2007. The latency is less than 3 ms with a quad-core PC running XP32 and HDSP RME card.

Well normally, Under the devices menu in Nuendo, the BUffer setting can be changed to adjust record and monitoring latency. Normally you can select or change it to suit your desire latency. However on my new setup there is a bug.

I have been running this software on a powerbook G4 @ 10.4.11 with ease for almost 2 years. Yet now on my new G5..... I can't seem to get things up and running correctly. I am having a tough time trouble shooting the problem.

I don't know what else to try.

I think Nuendo is that problem.

Under the other programs i have, Logic, DP, melodyne etc. I can get the buffer settings changed to my preference. Though with Nuendo..... no dice!

The mac is fine, I'm sure something is up with Nuendo. I've reinstalled it at least 5 times.

-tried upgrades
-upadates to all software
-clean reinstall with just the os and Nuendo
-removed the RAN=M
-clean up the HD

I tried a whole bunch of things.... nothings working. I think I have to buy Cubase 4...... Anybody want to help a brother out.... Nuendo 3 cheap....?
