Finally, Pictures of my Room...

Hot off the presses.
Just thought I'd share these new photos Ed Colver shot of my room.
This is my home studio... in my garage.

I like the sponged paint on the walls and the colour, or is that how the texture just came out?

Thanks Ya'll!
Yes, those are Westlake Audio BBSM 10's.
And the walls and ceiling are covered in fabric.

Yes I got another rack and put my (2) Bryston's and Hafler headphone amp in there.

Great looking room, looks really comfortable. I also liked the pics you had of installing the new desk. Can I ask...where did you get that computer side table? I've been looking for something similar but have yet to find anything that looks as good as that.

thanks,
- alex

Nice,

I think you must be a little like me, wanting to be able to stretch back, look up (or anywhere) and not get stabbed in the eyes by spot lighting..

Reflected / ambient lighting rules..

Nice! Clean, simple, and classy. It looks like a place where you can dim the lights, then work for many hours and still not feel fatigued - just chilled out.

How about the booth to the right? How's that look?

The desk is from IKEA.
The 23" cinema display (KVM) is on an umbilical cord from a Gefen box.
The actual computer and Pro Tools gear resides in another room.
I designed it so you can move the computer practically anywhere in the room.

As for the construction:
The floor floats from the walls. The walls floats from ceiling.
It took me a year to build because I just did it a little bit at a time... CASH.
Except for the gear, I didn't want to have any construction debt when I opened the room.

Originally it was a 17' x19' garage. With a 13' ceiling.
The control room is now 13' x 16. I have one ISO that is 6.5' x 10'. And an entry way that is 6' x 6'.
The entry way/machine room is feed by the air conditioning ducks so the gear never gets hot.
Jules is right, I added the ambient lighting with the sconces, so I can vary the mood of the place.

The coolest part of the studio is the red leather couch in the back of the room.

Can't go wrong with the Westlakes. I still think they are the best monitors at any price.

A studio is a financial black hole with good acoustics.

It's only vintage if it works. Other wise it's just old crap.

JS Bach or Beethoven never used auto-tune or comp tracks, nor an eq, a compressor/limiter, a reverb or a delay an analog or digital mix system. All that was achieved in the writing and performance of the music. Obviously Bach and Beethoven were doing it wrong.
