Wink Victoria BC Slutz: want to get out of the basement? looking for partners...

I'm just new to this town and I'm trying to drum up interest on splitting rent and building a studio/possible performance venue... rent is pretty expensive for what you get in this town but if we can band together a couple people with decent gear/dollars we could get something pretty premium... this would not be a commercial venture by any means (what that means is keep yer day job...) but moreso a stepping stone to something else (I have broad and elaborate plans for the future)... Victoria has a lot of potential and I want to see over the next year if it is worthwhile putting down roots here or if I should move on...

I don't even know who records in this town aside from the random tossers who must be out there buying all the cheapo "pro tools by mbox" systems from l&m.... I have pretty close to a pro studio gear-wise... i have a studer a80 24 track plus studer a80 mixdown deck... looking for people who perhaps have a studio and maybe an inadequate space or have nice mic's/outboard preamps/compressors/etc (ie something to bring to the table) but want to go tape... or people wanting to get involved with something that could help shape the music scene of a city in a major way...

two catches for interested singles:

1. must be 25 and under (I'm a bigot, I know, but for the left [young])
2. I'm into rock music generally: ie modern country, modern radio rock, exploitive pop, rap, punk, metal is a no go (we should have a generally-unified artistic vision...); jazz is my #1B love... classical/folk, neofolk, freakfolk is all excellent...

one of the major influences for my idea is hotel2tango in Montreal... friends banding gear together and putting together a scene/great space that builds in stature over time and operating with a lot of integrity...

let me know what you think...
