I was wondering how many clients do you guys have? I'm not counting the band who will come to your studio once because they were in town. How many regulars do you guys have? answer the poll

About a dozen that keep contracting work and have for the past two years, sometimes its a lot of work, other times it's just a quick thing I can hammer out in a few hours.

As the house engineer in our B studio, I get all the hip hop projects, corporate projects, some karaoke stuff and some acoustic projects (pretty much anything that doesn't need the big live room and can be done in a vocal booth with less than 4 pres and only one good outboard compressor) I'll do a band project every 2 months or so but... well... I do what pays the bills and sometimes that isn't the fun stuff. Anyway... I probably have about 40-50 people I see once every 2 months or less. Maybe 10 that are in recording every single week. (keep in mind, most of these are 3 hour hip hop sessions) Probably another 40- 50 that I can count on seeing twice a year And of course a fairly high number of people I work with once and then never see again. Then the corporate stuff that I get occasionally, but are usually big 2 week long projects. All in all, if you want to count how many clients total... mine would definately be in the 100s. Studio A here has far fewer clients but the ones they have book multiple days instead of multiple hours.

hmmm... good question. i suppose i have probably 10-15 bands that i have done multiple projects with...and hope to continue working with. i work with a few indie labels...but the work is slowly tapering off as the music biz evolves. best, jchristopherhughes
