installing mcdsp!

Hey..Fella's i was just wondering if i buy the new MCDSP package box.
Are there any software inside the box or is it just serial numbers just like waves.?
Cause i live in Amsterdam and have relatives in N.Y.
so...they could buy me software and just email me the serial, would work fine too right?
Now these days..software packages inside the box contains only booklet/info/serial number right?
Any suggestions?

You're talking about the Classic Pack, right?

from the website:

"In addition to the four full featured McDSP Plug-Ins, The McDSP Classic Pack also contains a 194 page printed manual and a pre-programmed McDSP Green iLok. The McDSP Classic Pack is ready to plug and play right out of the box."

So you need the special green iLok that comes with the disks.

I don't see why you couldn't have someone purchase those licenses and then transfer them to you once they've registered the iLok. Unless it's one big license, which I doubt. I would bet it's set up so that someone who purchases the Classic Pack could sell off one license, so why not all of them. You would then need someone to sell them to you 'second hand'...which, of course, is totally legit. That's how I bought two of my McDsp plugins.

Aha...more FAQ from the Classic Pack:

"Classic Pack comes with an iLok, what if I already have an iLok and only one available USB port?

iLok authorizations can be transfered from one iLok to another within the same iLok.com account easily and free of charge.

Can I re-sell plug-ins from the Classic Pack?

Unfortunately not. The Classic Pack has a single registration card for all four of the Plug-ins included. Transfer of ownership will not be recognized by McDSP support."

OK, everyone together now..."AWWWWWW"

Ya know, just between you and me, I paid around $250 for MC2000 and the same for Filterbank...if you can get 'em second hand for about that, you beat the bundle price.

Have you run the demos? It works the same way; they deposit an asset for the plugin in your iLok account; then you login at iLok. If the screen says 'You've got licenses.' you plug in the appropriate iLok (in case you have more than one), select the appropriate iLok, and click 'synchronize' (don't do anything while it's synchronizing; especially don't unplug the iLok.) Next thing you know, you'll have a license for said plugin with an expiration date if it's a demo, or an expiration date of 'Never' if you purchased it.

I think it's a pretty simple system...which is good for me!!!
