Stupidest things you've heard OUTSIDE the studio from bands.

I have a bunch. I can only think of these right now....

"...the band now has 400 friends on MySpace, we are getting so popular so fast it is overwhelming...."

(from an actual grown-up, telling me how close the band is to "breaking through")

"...I hope the next time we use them they get it right..."

(The cd manufacturing plant screwed up and a bunch of jewel cases were empty. They plan on using them again.)

"We can't figure out where all our money goes!"

This said while sitting in front of a table with several hundred dollars worth of drugs laid out for easy access.

Oasis: "We're bigger than the f*cking Beatles!"

And the Beatles were already bigger than Jesus, so that's some pretty damned big.

Not that I personally heard this, but it was precisely the moment that I lost all interest in Oasis.

"I don't like that SSL, it's too tiny, let's mix it at home."

"I don't like that trident console, you should have my buddy mix it, he just got out of AI and he's great." I was hired to fix the mixes, which were labeled things like "Shittrack almost done-mix" "I hate this shit-mix" "Finally over-mix" It was for a signer songwriter girl who was 17. Real Professional.

"I can't hear myself" Most guitar players with over 100 watts.

A guitar player trying to describe a guitar sound and riff by using chugg sounds.

The conversation went as follows....

"basiclly the riff on my new album is like, da da chugg, and the amp is all like....well you know the heavy stuff, but not that heavy, but still heavy enough where its considered heavy.

Me: Your E string is out of tune
Guitar player: Okay hold on...Okay better?
Me: no your other E string.
Guitar: What we got two E strings?
Me: ....

20 years of playing guitar and he still can learn something new.

it was NEVER true. Oasis got big - but they never got THAT big. Only in the minds of their fans. The height of their fame was selling four million albums in the UK alone - big. Their total sales lay at around 30 million odd. Fans say 50million - but official figures put it in the 30's. The Beatles - well over a billion. Half of that was in their "day".

Agree with above poster, Oasis were never comparable on any level. I know the Beatles, Oasis were no Beatles.

I always thought of that quote as a tongue in cheek sort of joke. Beatles say they're bigger than jesus and the obvious association with the Oasis and the Beatles made them say that.
Personally i don't like Oasis but i thought that was a funny thing to say. I doubt they meant it and commend them for having to balls to say it.

"The producer of Michael Jackson heard me singin the phantom of the opera and told me instantly that he would pay me the conservatory of music if i promised to record 3 albums with him, meanwhile i've got invited to zakk wylde's to a party" (bear in mind that all that was said in Switzerland!)

the next week:

"i had to give up on the conservatory and the albums, i'm too busy at school" (she is actually studying to become a secretary)

I heard this in the parking lot behind the studio: "They're not my kids--I pull out."

You got that right!

One of the things that kept me from... um... appreciating Oasis, was their pretention.

could have been referring to the quarrymen, it could be easy to forget that. Also could have been talking about wings.

I would have like to have thought that.

Me: You mean Wings?
Band: Who were they?
Me: His band after the Beatles.
Them: Paul McCartney was in the Beatles?

Granted this was a young group in a grindcore band. (I then gave them my biased opion why I thought the Beatles, like them or not, was a band that blew open the doors and built new corridors for modern music in so many ways.)

years a go a local band had been playing a lot and had managed to get some money together.
they were sorta def leppard.
the guitarist thought he was getting an amp
the bassist thought he was getting a new bass
what actually happened was that the singer got some red leather trousers.
