I spoke with a rep just yesterday regarding this. According to them, the dual lightpipe i/o is the way to go. They didn't bring up daisy chaining firewire so it more than likely won't work in their soft mixer. Obviously on a mac you can make an aggregate device, but you plan on using that soft mixer a lot, that won't be your best bet.
