Excellent, Jeremy. Simply excellent. I really like that what was not said was louder than what was said. Nice job. I won't jinx you by handicapping it's chances... | Quote:

If it wasn't enough that you guys all gave me 17 1/2 minutes of your time you are all also so supportive!!! Thanks so much, the encouragement I'm receiving from this thread especially makes it all seem worth it to be able to share.

Jeremy
I have to agree with everyone here. It's a great piece! You had me guessing where you were going with it almost all the way through (I find most things largely predictable) I love how it ended and the message it delivered.
Thank you.
PEACE!

| Free AKG D112
Hello everyone! I am going to give away an AKG D112 for free!! It has been barely used. Still has the original documents, hardcase, sticker!
Besides being a Gearslut, I am also a big plantslut. To get the microphone you will need to guess the most about this plant in the picture (name, where it is from, etc.) It is an interesting plant. I can give clues if no one gets it. The person who knows or can guess the most wins!
Good luck! |

Not like a lot of other forums, where the usual response is "get over it f*****". :( And the starred out word is the fa word, not the fu. :( Quote:

Good luck! | It seriously looks like more of a mushroom mound than anything else, but I'm not too sure, haha. Looks kinda scary!

Good luck! | Well, I'll take a shot in the dark. I know nothing about botany, but let's try!
It looks like a fungus, but you said plant so I assume it can't be a shroom of sorts. I think this plant grows through a budding process (like one embryo becoming twins), and may not require light to do so. If it does require light, it likely has a strange photosynthetic process as the color green is not visible. Finally, I believe this plant grows in volcanic soil, and that may have an impact on how it gathers nutrients/energy and is not green in color.
Let me know how I did!
Quick edit: on second glance I noticed the small flowers. That would mean that if this plant does in fact grow through budding, it still reproduces with male/female anatomy and function. Pollination, I presume.

Good luck! | Here is my very random guess. I'm gonna say these yellow flowers grow in the mountainous regions of Eastern Europe. They can withstand cold, dry climates. They have no problem growing thru rock/limestone/fossil...don't need much water, but lots of sun.

Pollination, I presume. | It is a member of the Plantae kingdom and not Fungi. The plant does fruit. (you wouldn't want to eat it) Quote:

Keep guessing!!

So no one gets confused.. the picture on the left is in cultivation and the picture on the right is in habitat.

Looks like a couple of buttercups growing out of a meadow muffin to me...
Coupla noobs with the right idea! The beat grows on.
I see I'm honored by another quote in Lenny's sig--no such thing as bad publicity!
Got into trouble today over some parts returned from a vendor that were oversized. After they sat in the floor overnight, I measured them and they were good. Then they told me the other shop was 70°! 20° makes a big difference in the size of a metal part! I usually don't waste energy getting mad at work, but I was pretty hot for a while. Flippin' "engineer" doesn't get it when I say 1. it's hollow 2. it's alloy 3. it's been welded. You can no longer predict how it will grow as it warms up--probably won't stay round. *rant over*

Me too Zoso, and I am a Gardener and a Drummer as well....at least I'm having fun trying to identify it. My boss has 35 years under his belt as a plant identifier here in British Columbia...and even he's sorta stumped.
