Fairly somber around here the last few days. My cat of 13 years went out the other night and has not returned home. I have done the whole flyers, call the shelters, look everywhere possible and impossible and nothing. I am seriously thinking about contacting a psychic. I cannot mourn as I don't know what has happened or even if that is appropriate at this time. He has never been gone this long and I am trying (unsuccessfully) to distract my self as much as I can. I have had this cat since he found me in a feed store in Oregon and was so small he could stand on all fours in my hand. I am at a loss. Sorry to dump all this here but you all are friends and I find I need that very much right now. I have moved through every emotion to now where I just want some closure. In short, this really sucks.

Heres my latest work...cranked it out in one night!

I'm playing both the trumpet parts on this recording. French horn is being replaced by flugelhorn in this recording (though I bet you cant tell) and the euphonium/trombone part is played by flugelhorn and dropped an octave. Tuba is a crappy midi tuba in reason...shall be fixed soon.

I'm wondering how to go about marketing this stuff...

Well I am off to the northern part of the state for a peer interview with a hospital, Thursday AM. Taking the thread with me, on a laptop.

Have a good morning.

Evening with the wife was cut short last night by a phone call from my mom who was watching my 1yo. Got there and he projectile vomited all over me. Staying home to...get vomited on more I guess.

Anyone else puking on me would be disgusting, but being it's my own kid I've been apologizing to him instead. How the heck does that work? :D

Dear Tab..

I am so very sorry.

And I do understand your need for closure and to find some peace of my mind.

When I lived in LA, my dear dear 10 year old cat Simon disappeared for 8 days. I did as you have done and posted signs everywhere,

drove and walked through the neighborhood(s), talked to neighbors, etc.

As it turned out, Simon had gotten locked into the utility building of the neighboring apartment complex. He often followed people

around in curiosity, more dog-like than cat-like, so I assume he followed the handyman in there, and was inadvertently left inside.

He survived 8 days without food or water until he was discovered. This was in late Autumn.

And after some TLC, he was as good as new.

So, it is my prayer, that your cat is somewhere close by and safe and will soon be found. It is not impossible that this is so.

Know that you and your family and your dear little cat are in my heart and in my prayers.

Please keep us posted, my friend ...

Tab, I'll tell you a story about one of my kitties soon, but I have to do it a little later...at work now. But hang in there. I've had many a cat (in fact, I've always had at least one) and I understand how strong that bond can be.

Let me just say this...sometimes old cats go on journeys, out of the blue. It's happened to me, with cats that never did it before, but chose to do so in elder years, and they came back, all chatty and hungry and affectionate.

But if it doesn't come home--and this has also happened to me--I've come to realize it was like a last act of independence, something they choose to do themselves, like the old chiefs who pass into the mountains when they feel their time has come. If that should happen, you'll realize it only slowly, with a lot of sadness and worry. But if so, I hope you come to understand it someday as a cat's version of grace.

Not that she couldn't do it herself, but of all the things I could do, I know it'll tickle her if I go along along and watch while she tries on everything in the store. Been real busy lately so haven't had much downtime, taking an evening off to devote to watching her shop has earned me a lot of bonus points so far.
Nice one zulu on letting the student off paying

And with wife shopping (lol, I mean taking the wife shopping), if you want to earn bonus bonus points, try picking stuff out for her to try on, or even bring her stuff in the changing room

Awe man, I hope he turns up soon. They're resilient little characters. It always breaks my heart to see lost animal signs.
If it's any consolation, my now 10 y.o. doggie Ella wandered off for over a day in Echo Park (just on the other side of the fwy from where you are). She came home tired and hoarse, but without a nick on her. She's still here 8 years later.
Unless it gives you some peace of mind I would recommend skipping the psychic, no need for someone to profit off of your desperation. The best way to recover an animal is to flyer away from your own neighborhood. Cats are creatures of opportunity and will stop off for a meal just about anywhere.

Sorry to hear it brother, I can definitely relate to these feelings. 13 years is quite a good long time to have the gift of a friend like that, and something to always treasure. I sincerely hope he'll return soon, but sometimes wise cats know when it's their time and they just walk off to the happy hunting grounds. Either way, love and support sent your way.

Heartbreaking. I went through this for two weeks and it was awful. My experience concluded with a happy ending though and I pray that yours does as well.

I knew there was a bunch of us animal/cat lovers. Dogs are wonderful and I love them as well but there is a special bond with a cat. I had some people here working in the house last Winter; they were in and out and often left the door open. One day I couldn't find my newest cat...I searched the entire neighborhood...couldn't find her anywhere...I was a wreck...a couple hours later she came walking out of the garage. CATS! You know I called and called and called...that's what makes the following so true.."The difference between dogs and cats. When you call a dog it comes to you. When you call a cat it says leave a message. I might get back to you"
Hope you find him soon...I'm here anytime if you need a shoulder or???

Since this worked before... GFM Knock their socks off!!

For those of you who missed the international holiday on Monday...yes it was my B-day. No need for happy birthdays at this point...I know had you known you would have wished me a happy one. I am just kind of weird that way...to me it's just another day..but I got yelled at for not letting people know..now you know.

I sold my truck to pay bills and had a little left to buy me a B-day present. So on Sunday we went out and bought one of those old big screen tv's, with the great big cabinets, for 75.00. We're talking 65" HDTV here...hard to believe that you can get these so cheap now...they are just so big no one wants them anymore... Mine was shot so I splurged. I went out looking for a power strip that has clean power....it's more than what I paid for the whole TV lol

Yesterday I got a nice package in the mail from our good friend Strewnshank....Thanks so much Chris...I can't wait to get it all plugged in and going. I also had a doctors visit yesterday and he has asked me to relax and take it easy till Monday. (he suggested bedrest but I can't do that) I still have that bad tooth that needs to be pulled and he is afraid I might make the infection spread to my brain. I'm on an antibiotic, I'll be fine. (It's so nice that they worry about one so) So that puts the demo on hold for another week or so. Man it is tough sometimes to continually jump hurdles to be successful...but once you understand what they are it empowers you to just plow through them and make it anyway.

I will take a couple pictures (if I can get a camera) and then I told you I would say some message with the VTB1 RNC combo...does anyone know where that went?

I spent a week this summer trying to get the old lady neighbor's cat off the other neighbors 3 story house. This cat was so scared you could not even get close. She called the fire department, they couldn't do a damn thing, so I told her to call trappers. They came and couldn't get the cat. It would run into a tiny part of the crawl space.

They left a trap which was placed in a trap door at the top of a long staircase. i had to have this creaky ladder at the top of this staircase and awkwardly adjust the cage. Finally on the 3rd cage day we got him. LOL

This was the second time this cat climbed on that roof. Nor the poor cat is grounded in her house. No more freedom for kitty.

Pah, you think you can escape birthday wishes so easily Greg? Get over here so I can wish you more happy returns than you know what to do with! And take care of yourself man --- do as the doc says and rest up -- get well acquainted with that 65" beast! (that's just insanely big!)

Tabashg -- I really hope your kitty turns up --- it must be so horrible to lose a friend like that after so long. Hopefully he's just taking a little vacation....

Way to go 99zulu, nice thing you did for the student (and the missus!)

Colonel --- I don't really read the news much, so didn't even know what was going on until it was mentioned! Keep yourself safe and outta trouble my friend!

Got a song to share with you. It's my lovely girlfiriend's old band --- I was playing their ep earlier today, (hadn't listened to it in quite a while,) and thought I should share at least a track with you. It was all recorded in a basement a couple of years ago, and this is one of my fav tracks. Lemme know if you like it and I can point you in the direction of the myspace (think it's still up) or maybe even rustle you up a cd...... She's had a nice bit of news recently ----- she's going to be singing at the Albert Hall here in London on the 5th Nov, as part of Imogen Heap's choir -- how cool is that?!

Hope everyone's well

OK I have a little giveaway.

I have just been doing some work, and a little application called "Snapper" from Audio Ease made my life sooo much easier. I was using a demo, and I have decided to buy a copy, I have also decided to buy a copy for someone on this thread. So that is what the giveaway is for.

The only catch is it is OSX only, but every person working in audio on OSX should have it, its great!

Snapper 2 by Audio Ease

So the giveaway goes like this. It is going to go to a nerd. The first one to answer my favorite brain teaser gets it.

I am standing somewhere on earth, I walk one mile south, then one mile west and then one mile north. I end up in the same place I started. Name ALL the places on earth I could possibly be.

Note you must name ALL the places, and if you include a false answer in your answer you are disqualified.

No googling the answer, answers by PM

And... Go!

Matt

ps. a true nerd should have the answer in under 2 minutes (actually I used to ask lots of people this when I was at university, only 2 people got it in under 2 minutes, some got it in 24 hours, most gave up.)
pps. If you're not on OSX have a go anyway!
