This one goes to the person who PMs me the best story about being poor (temporarily, or long term) and how it actually improved your life! Creativity under duress? Changing opinions about life? Meeting awesome people? Whatever it may be. Best story by the time I come home from my gig Friday night (may actually be Saturday morning, technically!) gets the prize;
Any one object from Adlen's list of things for sale here: http://www.gearslutz.com/board/gears...check-out.html
Sorry for not asking you first Adlen, but I figured you wouldn't have any objections.
I will pay Adlen for object and shipping, and have it shipped to you. All sales follow Adlen's rules; note for example that he won't ship the PA speakers!
BTW, for anyone in the San Francisco Bay Area my gig is my 6-piece all acoustic indie-chamber-folk-rock band All My Pretty Ones playing at the Uptown in downtown Oakland! It's a free 9PM show this Friday night and we're opening for the Moore Brothers!
Alright, let's hear some stories! | I hate to do it but... bump for this. Hope you don't mind, KT.
Also, a few new things have been added to the list of stuff for sale.

In all seriousness, glad to hear it's nothing extreme, but be more careful RBZ. |

Oy! So much going on... so fast!
Sorry I didn't post the winner of my little contest last night as promised; my band took our real acoustic piano (with only 64 keys!) to the gig for the first time, and tried out a new live sound rig... etc. It was an amazing and fascinating experience, but not one particularly conducive to doing anything other than sleeping afterwards!
jchas; it sounds like you are doing everything right, keep it up. Your mom is lucky to have you!
I strongly back up his words on the subject of a living will; I've been meaning to get one done up myself. As I learned while dealing with my mother's affairs earlier this year, the paperwork process when dealing with major medical things like this are nothing short of awful, and everything you can do to plan ahead should be done! It is the last thing you want to spend your time on when you aren't sure how much there is left!
RBZ: get well soon!
b808: I highly envy your Friday meal! I hope to match it tomorrow, however; my wife absolutely can't stand anything from the ocean, so I always have to do some funny schedulin' to get me some sushi...
The winner of the Adlen prize is Aitikin! He offered a story I very much identified with, and his choice of item from Adlen's for sale list won me over.
Now for some homemade hot cocoa from my wife! |

Oh yeah, and as for the gift of music, my band Spesus Christ is currently giving away our first EP (technically "name your price, no minimum") to a limited group; congratulations, you've all been invited! Spesus Christ
Let me know what you think, either public or in PM, please! I'd love to hear thoughts so much.
Cheers!

I must strongly recommend very dirty and dry (vodka) martini's with sushi. One of the chef's made a great salmon roll with thin slices of lemon on top that was soooo good with a salty martini. Just sayin'
I love the Philip Glass-esque intro to Airport Gate! End of the song is like an acid trip or something something thing thing ssoooooommmeeeethiiiinngggggggggg.
Spesus sort of reminds me of an inverted version of sleepytime gorilla museum - but not really. Cool stuff! Can I pay you with a broken tube mp? That somehow seems fitting.

Hah! Oops. Well sir, I certainly envyed YOUR friday meal, then.
It's so funny that you would say that; Sleepytime is one of my biggest influences, but the Spesus stuff (not my writing, but very much my arranging!), but it's usually compared more to Why? which is I think is a little more fitting... maybe it's somewhere in between.
And actually, I would love a broken tube amp for payment! sounds like a fun project! :D

So sorry to hear that, Rawb!
I used to say "A little pain never hurt anyone" but in your case, maybe I was wrong...
Best wishes for a speedy and uneventful recovery!

as for genre, i'm pretty cool as long as its not crazy jazz or metal. anything pop/rock/r&b, quirky or simple.

Hey I'm offering a whole bundle of fluffy fiberglass. I was going to use them to build some corner traps but I never got around to doing so before I moved out... so now I'm halfway across the country and there's no way I'm building traps in my college dorm room. So when I get back for Christmas time I'd love to give it to someone. So anyone in the LA/San Diego area! I have a track if needed.

Anybody need a folksinger? 'Cuz the computer guy is pulling his effin' hair out! Some dick hacked my email and sent a bunch of spam. When I went to reset my password, it assed up my modem and router and I've been all afternoon getting the little bastards to talk to one another again. Might not have taken so long, but one call to India is enough for one day, so I just gritted my teeth and figured it out for myself.
Thanks. I feel better now.
One more brandy and it'll be the arms of Morpheus for me... |
