$550 now

I was just contacted by somebody who wishes to remain anonymous but would like to add another $100 to the prize. The only thing I ask of you all is this:

Wish this person a Happy Birthday in your own way here in this thread.

They decided to turn their birthday into something nice for somebody else!

$550 is the prize amount now!

Wow, this is a great thread. I've just stumbled upon it today and spend the last 3 hours reading.

I wish I could read all 600+ pages but I just can't!

Anyway, it reminded me how lucky I am to be doing relatively well. By some people's standards I guess my wife and I could be categorized as lower middle class but since we are both self employed and I am doing what I love each day I consider us richer than kings.

It inspired me to grab the few things that I have that don't get much if any use anymore in hopes that they will find someone who will use them.

If you do claim one of these you are not required in my mind to give anything yourself to another. It's nice if you can but I understand if you don't have anything to give righ tnow to others.
But if you've recieved something, please give someone else a shot unless you REALLY need what I have :0)

One item per costomer.
Free shipping to lower 48 states only. Sorry.

Oh, and in order to get something you have to PM me with a joke! It doesn't have to be the funniest joke. The first person who requests an item simply need to also include a joke in their request.

Gear:

1. (TAKEN) DOD "Death Metal Distortion" pedal that has barely been used and never been used live.

2. Danelctro "Cool Cat" Chorus pedal that uses 2 9Vs. A little more used than the DOD.

3. almost full roll of console tape.

4. (TAKEN) The large section of the MoPads. I am using the thinner add on sections to isolate my PC from my PC iso box but the main angles sections.

Books:

5. "The Recording Guitarist" A guide for home and studio.

6. (TAKEN)"Live Sound Reinforcement" A comprehensive Guide to P.A. and Music Reinforcement systems and technology

7. (TAKEN)"Hot Tips for the Home Recording Studio"

ZenPro Gift

i didn't catch the president's speech on education, but i was watching a C-SPAN wrap up show this morning(afternoon?). now i've been trying to keep up with the recent townhall meetings and make sense of things like the health care issue (and trying not to get totally overwhelmed with it), but sometimes it really seems to get bogged down in left vs right. a woman called into c-span this morning with the following comment:

"i watched the president's speech with my 8 year old daughter who has down syndrome. when the speech was over, she turned to me and said "mommy, i'm going to try harder""

other than the fact that i almost lost it (i get choked up easily from c-span...) it reminded me of this thread a bit. this thread totally goes against what *seems* to be over running the audio community (gear lust and snobbery and mis-information). imagine if the vibe on this thread made its way into every little community, sect, faction, etc ...and eventually society at large. probably too grandiose but it'd be nice.

i've only given a ludwig rack tom and a RF transmitter (budgetMC is still here ) but i'd like to think of it as the beginning. anyone need a session drummer?

-w
ps sorry i didn't use enough of

pps - happy birthday to anonymous. i think who ever wins should send a thank you/birthday card to warhead who can send it to anonymous...anonymously.

John Galt got the MoPads with this one:

Q - What is the definition of a minor second?
A - Two lead guitarists playing in unison.

I'm gonna catch heck but I don't get it...

I've asked him for a 3rd grader version that I might better understand!

Voiceactor (aka Greg) got the Hot Tips for the Home Studio book with this number:

A guy walks into a bar and orders 3 martinis straight up. Drinks each one individually and then leaves.
This goes on for a couple months when the bartender asks..."hey what is with the 3 martinis?"
They guy answers. "Oh I have a couple of good buds in other states and we made a pact that whenever we went into a bar we would have a drink for everyone"
Bartender says. "Nice sentiment!"
A couple months go by and the guy comes back in. Says "Bartender 2 martinis straight up"
The bartender pours the drinks and very concerned says "Hey I am so sorry, what happened?"
The guy confused says "what you mean?"
Bartender says "Only 2 martinis this time...."
The guy says...."ohh noo nothing like that. I quit drinking!"

That one I got and laughed out loud.

This thread is fantastic, every forum on the planet should have one (imagine the impact on the Boeing forums...).

PS: I just read that against88 had the same idea...

Thank you RawBeanZen for starting such a great thread. I know you weren't the first on GS to do this but still, for 600 pages to be located in a "please take this free gear and enjoy it" thread...

That's just amazing.

My first day on gearslutz, so I wanted to say hi, and this looks like the best place to do it.

I would also like to give away an akg 321 goose neck microphone to someone that wants it. So just let me know the best way to give it away, do I introduce a game or just pick randomly?

What is it about this "More Free Stuff...Let's Do It Again" thread that I like so much?

It's like...music!

It brings people from different backgrounds together to create a new, intangible entity that takes on a life of its own.

It makes something amazing out of bits of inanimate wood, plastic, metal, and electricity that you have lying around.

It's the shared experience and coming together for a common (and often unexpected or surprising) result that can be the best part.

It's hard to describe the "why" behind it, and sometimes better to just appreciate without overthinking.

It's one of the rare things in life that you can get more out of than you put into it.

It shows that some of the greatest joys in life are sharing with other people "just because".

It's a special feeling to share something of yours with complete strangers - to release something into the world without knowing exactly the ripples it might create.

It's inspiring.

It's just plain fun!
