Your mic knocked a chunk off that price! Thank you sir!

Now trying to send my Alesis IO|2, Sennheiser e835, Crafter Cruiser Sharkfin Guitar, Focusrite Trakmaster, Power amps, parametric EQ, Makita drills and Grinders, welding tubes... and pretty much everything else I own to a good home... well several good homes actually, if one person buys all that stuff I will kiss them!

It's time for me to pass on the microkorg. I would like to think of a game for it. If you guys have an idea I'm all ears.

It's 3:15am... I'm wide awake... I've been ill all week and tired all the time but I couldn't sleep because I was working/doing stuff at home. Now that I'm feeling better and have the opportunity to close my eyes... I feel like going for a bike ride. I totally would but it's raining and my back tire is completely flat.

Arg.

I think you should play a game and then have the winner choose who gets it (for whatever reason they want). But that may just be because I have no usage for a microkorg right now and i love playing the games...

Give give give give give.

So, what does it take to motivate some honest non competitive giving? I'm working on a few items that I'll be giving in a few weeks.

Anyone else up for giving with out guessing?

Matt

I'm trying to decide two things this week: what I'll give to continue the cycle after getting Nick's GA Project mic and how I'll give it. It's either going to be a guessing game or a 'most deserving PM' competition.

I like the games.... its like giving out fun while giving something else. However, to each their own, as long as there's giving involved.

I agree. Plus 'first to PM' isn't the best way to do it. I like the deserving idea because of experience. Somebody who could easily afford a new mic could have PM'd Nick before I did but he felt I was deserving because I have NO money and I'm trying to kit out my home studio to record my girlfriend.

By the way Nick, you may be waiting up to a year for that album, money has completely run out!

I'm down. I may be a little biased though seeing as how I'm broke and needing a couple things. I do agree with the need based though. (again slightly biased). and whose to say that we can't play games just for the fun of it. although a new partner thread just for that might be in order.

on another note, it seems like most of the regulars on this thread are into music recording and creating and such. are there any film sound guys out there? (that's what I'm interested in, and going to school for)

Well, put. I like the give-aways where everyone wins, whether or not they get a tangible gift. Contests are fun and the "tell us why..." types are brilliant and I think many benefit from that as well (the reader and the writer).

BTW guys, I'm seeing a serious lack of emoticons here today. According to the bylaws or the Free Stuff thread, post #239, line 17, RawBeanZen writes; "4) Use lots of emoticons, because they're fun."

You and me both! That's why I like games and need... I'd just find it hard to judge need and who's to say they're not lying?

Hi there folks!

I'm away visiting relatives and thought I'd pop in and say hello to you good people.

A few thoughts about different "modes" of gift giving, in no particular order...

I enjoy the first PM method when I'm in the mood to perform a random act of kindness. There's an instant gratification element to it, takes no time to plan, and it can be exciting knowing that anyone could win. Admittedly I've been doing it this way less and less frequently over time.

I enjoy doing giveaways that involve games and contests when I'm interested in seeing a bunch of people jump in and frolic together. It brings fun to the thread, as well as a sense of community, and gets the creative juices flowing. Love it!

There have also been giveaways in which I've asked people to write to me and essentially confide. This is the way to go when the interest isn't so much in fun, but catharsis. It gives me a chance to get a real sense of the various participants, and to carefully feel my way through the process of selecting a recipient. This can be a deeply moving experience, and also a very challenging one in terms of deciding who wins. Sometimes drawing randomly from a hat ends up being the way to go.

OK, I've rambled on long enough!

Take care all,

RBZ

That's why I like making the game winner choose. Is more fun for all.

Plus the who's to say they're not lying, that just kinda goes against the grain of this whole thread. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure it's happened more than once or twice, but still.

How's it hanging guys? I'm knee deep in circuits for the guitar amp build! I decided to go with just one tone switch and a volume. Low watts! 3 to be exact!

OOPS almost forgot!
