Thansk SambaMark for the rack shelf! Now I can listen to records w/o distortion because my turntable isn't sitting on top of my monitors anymore. Just hooked it up and I think I'll put on some old gospel to start the day.
A box of 600 tubes arrived and I need to sort through them. It's sort of like scratching off a lotto ticket. You never know if you're going to come up a winner or be holding a worthless piece of junk.

Hopefully we can get our first ChrerryTreey charity going soon. I have to find a way to work around a few problems on the Paypal end but I'll be in touch w/ RBZ, Pianoman, and Borg later this evening.

I'm sure it will be a winner no matter what model it is, but his "Little Blondie" is freakin awesome!!

More than deserving!

He's given so much on and off this thread, and he didn't even ask for the mic.

I'm very happy for you right now, BOWIE.

It'll ship with an USB wall charger (EU standard, non-UK), the USB sync cable and a protective case. I think I already gave the original earphones away long time ago, but you wouldn't want to use those anyhoo.

Also, the red coffee bean canister with hearts is only there for decorative purposes - it ain't up for grabs. Without it, mornings would be hell here.

PM me if interested and tell me why you need it, and I'll decide on a recipient when it feels right!

Mr Borg64,

as i have already received something (amazing! thanks mr Rawbe again!) from this thread i feel a bit bad about requesting something else. however, if no one decides they want your ipod, then i'd love to have it:

i don't have any desperate use for it myself, as i've just bought an ipod, but i'd like to be able to give it to someone else in my "immediate circle" - don't know who yet but that's another story!

to be honest i havn't got anything to gift to others at the moment as i'm trying to save, and i use all the equipment i have. but maybe me giving away your ipod again would count towards that?! (convoluted i know!)

anyway, let me know what you think

I kinda like this distance 'random act of kindness' idea... Tell you what, I'll let the offer stay up for a day or so in case someone else is in more dire need of it - if not, your not-yet-decided friend is getting an iPod.

not much but...

I've got a couple things free for the asking:

- Arion graphic eq pedal for guitar
- 1982 Guitar Player magazine - John Entwhistle interview/guitar collection photos

No conditions, however I'm in the UK. I will ship the magazine anywhere. I'd prefer to ship the pedal to the UK only, but I could be persuaded otherwise if you really want it. Let me know.thumbsup

Busy day for me here. So I posted some Atari games on craigslist. I got a call from someone who wanted to buy the games for his kids, for the $20 asking price. We meet up at a library next to the police station, and he turned up in a Sheriff's car. Turns out he is the Sheriff. I ended up just gifting the games and let him know since its going to his kids, I would rather have kids enjoy the games than a collector who will just sell them on ebay. He tried giving the money many times, but it felt even better turning down the $20. Felt real good, especially since he was doin' the police thing. Now, back to my sound design work for the day. thumbsup

Anyone who's having a crappy day should just say "Jordan Jerkwad" 5 times in a row and I guarantee that day will improve.

I just tried it....pure therapy!

(Great name, dude.)

Joe - PM sent!

I've got a Dunlop Cry-Baby Wah to give to the thread (has a dry joint or something, worked 100% before that - it's in A1 condition, just needs somebody who is handy with a soldering iron to actually get the signal rocking again).

There may be an amp up for grabs at some stage in the future too!

Just wanted to say what a brilliant idea for a thread guys, LOVE IT. If there's something I like to see, it's things being re-used. Props to everybody!

Peace,

Leo

it's really cool to hear people that appreciate and actually listen to stations like these. without stations like them and college radio i'd probably have stopped listening to the radio and music altogether long, long ago.

another organization that came to mind was womens' audio mission.

OK, how's this: I'm gonna fire up an old Kawai K1R (rack mount synth with "Voice Crystal 2" card) that's been sitting here for years. If it does anything remotely useful, I'll let you all know & it'll be sent to the person that PMs me before Saturday with their favorite part of (or favorite memory ricochet from) organsymphony's classic video posted earlier in this thread:

YouTube - 80s Synth Medley (3 guys, 6 keyboards)

USA only, and winner pays shipping ($$ is tight, very sorry). It will be packed well, rest assured.

I'd even let organsymphony make the final call on who gets it, if he's interested.

More as I dig through the rubble...

by all means, you just choose whoever you think is deserving, although it would be nice to hear what people think are the best bits!

I'd be happier if the thing fired up 100%, but it's being flaky. Can't make more noise tonight- gimme tomorrow to play with it. I'm sure the battery's dead in the voice card, but other than that I'm hoping it'll play nice. How about if it's all working & gets a green light, I send you my favorite 3 replies, and you & I choose together?

Real glad you liked the post, I really did get a bunch of smiles from the video and it obviously took a silly amount of work behind the scenes. I can certainly relate to going to great lengths to amuse myself musically, and it's always extra fun when someone from the outside manages to share in the moment later on. Check my avatar for proof- that's my alter-ego Ethel Vermin of the fabulous Luv Weezuls, playing to a packed basement of ~65 people in 1989 or so.

I did also find a half-dozen 1' - 2' bantam patch cables of unknown vintage/origin/quality, if anyone in the US wants them I'll send them on. First PM for that gets 'em.

je

First PM on the bantam cables was sonic-reducer...

Thank you, mprewett!

My 90's studio just got it's main reverb. I need to dig my stash to find something worth giving back..

I have a high end studio when it comes to effects now:

Reverbs: Lexicon and TC Electronics
(LXP-5 and M-OneXL with fried motherboard)
Chorus:
Roland DC-50
Delay:
Peavey 201(maybe?)
Dynamics:
None
Psycho-acoustics:
Aphex exiter type C model 103A

Building a nineties studio needs a special mindset...

But seriously, it's coming together faster than I ever hoped. And I have this thread to thank about it in a huge part. Priceless when things are as tight financially as they are.

Every single one of you people rock!
