Good Morning!!

dpianomn was taking up a collection of $5 a person for anyone who was willing to donate in order to get a gift certificate to Guitar Center for the fellow in Texas to whom dpianomn gave his Strat. jchas has since stepped up and offered to give an amp... but perhaps if there are enough people willing to still donate, then someone can still put together a nice gift certificate for someone else in need???

I had a near death experience that has changed me forever. The other day I
went horseback riding. Everything was going fine until the horse started
bouncing out of control. I tried with all my might to hang on, but was
thrown off. Just when things could not possibly get worse, my foot gets
caught in the stirrup. When this happened, I fell head first to the ground.
My head continued to bounce harder as the horse did not stop or even slow
down. Just as I was giving up hope and losing consciousness, the Wal-Mart
manager came and unplugged it. Thank Goodness for heroes!

A horse walks into a bar... the bartender says "why the long face?"

I'll take the Katz book! :p

And if a good cause is found, I'll join in with $5 too.

Not horse or parrot related but...

A dog walks into the bar and heads straight for the bartender with a very serious look on his face. The bartender asks, "May I help you?" The dogs says, "I'm looking for the man that shot my, paw!"

I already have the Katz book. I just like that joke...

Horse walks into the barn and a parrot on a barn-stool shuffles around to look him up and down:
Parrot: Why the long face?
Horse: Shut up and eat your cracker

(and it only gets worse from here, folks )

Since there seems to be a lot of people willing to chip in some cash to a worthy cause (I'm in too by the way), purhaps we should consider a charity? I realize the spirit of this thread is to give gear we don't need, but seeing as we are embarking on a monitary investment, I for one would like to see some cash go to some one actually in need. Just a thought...any suggestions?

You guys are all impressing the cr@p out of me by the way!

HOLD THE PHONE... I just, through some quick talking, found out that my friend in Texas still has his guitar and amp! I already called dpianomn and the guitar will not be going to him and I PM'd jchas and told him not to ship the amp.

So, I apologize to the group and ask for your forgiveness for causing a fuss. It wasn't my intention. In fact, I was sure he had pawned and lost them or sold them. However, while I hate to "take away" the generosity from my friend (he'll totally understand) , I am happy because it means a guitar/amp combo should still be available for someone who needs it!

Meanwhile in pluginland...

http://www.airwindows.com/f/VerbColossal.dmg

No reason not to revisit the thread seeing as the demo for some new reverbs I'm putting out is its own free thing (the only restriction is that the space is waaaay too big for practical use if you're not Vangelis)

For those who haven't seen it, or who can't run AUs, the verb I just gave everybody sounds like this: http://www.airwindows.com/m/ColossalVerbDemo.mp3

And in an interesting gearslutty twist, it like the other more usable sizes runs strict dual mono, the way people used to do with certain hardware verbs. (I'm still looking to be reminded of that story, by the way, as I forget what hardware verb was known for this trick. People would buy two of them just to run them dual-mono on their mixes, it was a secret studio weapon)

Hurrah for each of us continuing the free stuff thread in whatever way they can :D

I'll throw in $5 too.

Might I also suggest another charity for consideration (I'll happily give to any orphanage as well - it is by no means a bad choice!)

About 4 years ago, I spent a summer working for a non-profit organization called Young Artists International. Their main goal is to help support the careers and growth of extremely talented young classical musicians from around the world so that they can continue to play music. When I worked there I had the privilege of helping to coordinate a concert with them at the Walt Disney Concert Hall in Los Angeles and let me tell you how amazing this group is. The musicians were able to travel from around the world and spend some time here (I actually chaperroned them while they were here) in LA, and they were SOOOO grateful and had so much fun. Not to mention, when I heard them play at the hall, I was completely amazed at how brilliant they are.

So like I said above, an orphanage is totally cool and I'll happily pitch in if that's what the board chooses! I just thought this might interest people since its a non-profit AND it deals with music

a charity sounds wonderful, but who will be in charge? perhaps 2-3 people would be better/easier than just one. i'm happy to volunteer...

also, regarding the strat, i think i'm gonna see if my brother wants it. if not, i'll offer it to another slut

Me too. I wonder how we can do it though... For instance, I have a few charities I donate to. I'm sure that some others here do to. Maybe we could take turns offering a "featured charity"?
Maybe, after RawBe has had a chance to announce the 121 winner, he can give the charity idea some thought. I think he should untimately be the one to decide how we go about it in this thread.

sounds good

Yeah i agree maybe feature a different charity a year and everyone donates what they can. maybe set up a paypal account under who ever may be in charge and everyone can contribute to it. then take that lump sum and donate ! would be easy that way...
