So since the halloween season is coming up, I thought I'd share a tune from my old band that reminds me of nightmares of yesterday...........

Feel like ive just crawled out a train wreck. Seen DOWN lastnight, with orange goblin supporting with warbeast, ten rounds with Tyson might have felt better. Great night! Thought I'd share! On the whiskey now nursing the head and bones!

Here's the height of generosity for you. Two days ago I got an offer to take a Lyon and Healy 36 harp. These folks have been trying to sell this thing for 34000.00 with no bites. They heard through facebook that I was trying to put a studio together for kids and wanted to donate to the cause.
I'm afraid I had to turn them down. Don't get me wrong I would have loved to have it but the amount involved told me I couldn't justify such a large gift.
It's absolutely incredible that these folks would do this. I even had to shed a tear or two. They understood my feelings and weren't hurt that I wouldn't accept it. I did however, make some new friends. They told me they were going to keep their eyes open for items I could use. I told them about this thread. They were thrilled that such a place on the internet existed.
I may or may not end up with some gear that I can pass along here.
Needless to say....it made my day like you can't imagine. The harp was stunning but way too much for a bunch of kids to destroy and it's not something I have room in the house for anyway.
My computer is almost back together. Bought a used motherboard off Ebay but he forgot to send the I/O plate. That should be here Tuesday. I'm going to be using some spray rubber inside my case in hopes that it will help quiet some of the fan noise. I'm putting a 120mm fan over the CPU. Now I just need to make some baffles for the back to send the air towards the ground. If only I had a small brake I could make them out of steel. Thick poster type board will have to do.
Next month I hope to buy a rack mount case and start prepping it for quiet, quiet, quiet!
OK my fellow giveslutz, now I need a favor from all of you. (Don't worry it's an easy one) Simply put a nice warm smile on your face and wear it proudly. Then have the best weekend you can have. Promise? I knew I could count on you.
PEACE!

Thanks Goat for posting.
If it seems like I am starting to become my old self again...I am.
I have spent the last 5 months with little or no sleep at all. I would sleep for 15, 20 minutes and wake up and couldn't get back to sleep. My legs were hurting so bad from my back that I would sometimes go 3 and 4 days without sleep. Then I would finally sleep for about 8 hours and wake up sicker than a dog. Doctor put me on some prednisone to help with the inflammation in my back and gave me a script for some non addictive sleep medication. I have now had 3 days in a row of sleeping through the night...what a joy...this sleep thing.
Sorry about hijacking the pic and message. |

Glad you are better, Greg.
Hey, for your computer parts get some aluminum flashing material. You can bend that with your hands. Put the bend line at the edge of a table, hold it down with a straight board, and bend the piece to the angle you want. |

Thanks Goat. I was thinking about something along those lines too. I was thinking about some small gauge steel and hammering it over while one end was in the vise. The flashing idea seems much easier to do.
Damn it's good to have friends in the know...thanks again! <---me feeling the burden lift.
BTW everyone..don't enter the Vintage King Retro 176 contest. (you'll lessen my chances lol and yes I am kidding) What a sweet giveaway! I wonder if they got any ideas from this thread???? |

Sorry about hijacking the pic and message. | I totally understand. I've had chronic insomnia for years now and law school didn't help and now the little one. Not that I'm complaining about those. Law school was a blast (yeah, I like to read) and Xander is just the best. I think he's learning what dancing is all about! I think the last time I slept completely through the night was in 2007 (due to heavy meds from surgery) and the last time I got three in a row was probably 1998 or 9. I miss it.
Hope you get lots more nights of great sleep! |

Nothing says "No Sleep for You!" like kids, in my experiences. But my heart goes out to anybody facing insomnia, that's a terrible thing... to have the time to sleep but not be able to.
I would be sleeping now... but I've got to go install a 650 pound generator at my wife's office.

I know you would! Unfortunately, my buddy who knows what he is doing when it comes to such things managed to get food poisoning, so the process is moving pretty slow. But, as is the way of so many things, it WILL get done eventually -- ya just gotta keep beating on it. |

My kids would be way to spoiled | Ok you caught me. I just made the story up so everyone on this thread would think I was really cool.
That was a little uncalled for on my part and I apologize for it. Even if you can't/won't believe that people would be so generous,
1. Take a look through this thread and see how much love and generosity there is here.
2. Rather than think someone else giving away large item like a 34k harp is absurd...see if you can catch the spirit of the generosity.
It's not about the item, it's about the spirit of giving. Giving something of yourself that you can't really or don't really want to let go of. Try it once or twice...see how it makes you feel. If it makes you feel empty, definitely the wrong thread for you. I suspect however that it will fill your heart.
Personally, I think showing even a small amount of kindness directed at someone you've never met is far more valuable than any 34k harp or piano or studio desk or whatever because it is an intangible and priceless.
I hope you take this in the spirit intended. I am not trying to be mean or tell you what to do here. I am simply trying to help you understand that when it all boils down there are a lot of wonderful people in the world. They just need the chance.
PEACE! |
