mbox clipping?

Ok please dont flame me for being ignorant; I am just getting started and dont know alot! I am having this problem with my new MBOX. I tried to hook up my mbox to my computer. but that was a no go, so we got one of the other guys in my bands computer, it seems to work fine but we are having this problem i got all the inputs right so we are getting sound out of the moniters you can clearly hear the guitar but after about 3 min, or so; the signel that the mix knob from the mbox(set to the right position {Mbox playback) starts sounding all distorted then it will eventually go back to the clear sound again if you record while it sounds all clear the recording is clear but if you record while the signel is distorted the recording is also distorted, we changed guitars and cables and it still dose it, also if it is distorting; mix knob to the right (L is anlog input R is protools playback) if you turn the mix knob left( analog input) it dosnt distort but still records all distorted. I belive somthing in the mbox, computer setup is giving it a intermitant bad signel? any help; there is no way i can record like this! Well thats one heck of a first post; SORRY!

thanks LOOPJUNKIE

I have already tried a bunch of stiff like increasing the hardwear buffer size, it will clear up but after a couple of min. it come back without changing any other parameters.

hi. When I had an Mbox, there was this problem where it went OFF the digital clock, so I actually had to go to the playback engine and re-set it to Internal for it to work properly. It was a pain in the butt, cause after an hour or even less of recording I had all this Gitter going on...may be what's happening to you!?
