Longer TOSlink cables or couplers?

Just a quickie:

After a month of re-jigging things in my studio, I've just found out that my 5m optical cables running from my converters (SSL AlphaLink) to my DAW are *just* too short

Now, would there be any detrimental difference in simply using a bunch of TOSLink couplers and adding another 1m cable to each, or should I redo the lot with longer cables (10m being the next available length)? The AlphaLink is also providing my clock source, through the ADAT feed too.

Cheers

PS - All the cables are of good quality, so I'm not really bothered about concerns about the merits of different makes/types of optical cables as such...
