have a feeling this has been here before, but could'nt find it on searching.

Looks identical to the Oktava ML52.
BTW I understand that Oktava has released the ML53. Same as the 52 but with a new shell/grill design.
Anyone use this mic yet (Octava or EH)?

Yep ... And the guys from EH at the MusikMesse admited that it was the same microphone ... (they said : same as a famous russian brand, that means an Oktava with the EH tag on it ... )

One of the major complaints about the ML52 that I've heard was the acoustic artifacts of its shell/grille design. A revision of that might make a noticeable difference in the overall sound of the mic.
