Very hot AD converters side by side in Rack?

I've got Mytek and Digidesign converters (4 of them) stacked one on top of the other in my rack... They get extremely hot when in use and I wonder if I should put some air space between them...

Am I potentially shortening their life or are they ok in this situation?

I am currently out of space in my gear racks... I could just spring for another rack and space these out a bit but I'd rather not... any thoughts?

Digital stuff tends to get seriously hot... which will shorten the life of things like capacitors in the analog signal path... the good news is that most likely by the time there is a significant difference in sound they'll be obsolete so it won't really matter [of course the Shitidesign converters sound like ass out of the box so they'll probably sound like they sound longer than the Mytek converter where you could actually notice denegration of the audio].

If the units aren't going into thermal shutdown then you should be OK... you might want to spread them out [and/or get them out of the rack all together as you don't really need to access them while you're working].

Best of luck with it.

Fletcher, you got mail from EveAnna last week. Could you please pass it over one of these days?
Thanks.

Is the top and bottom of your rack ventilated so that you get some convection air-flow?

Thanks... Since I'm out of rack space anyways, pulling the converters out completely is a great idea that I guess I should consider... I don't like the idea of shortenting their lifespans... It is a serious mess of cables back there...

The top of the rack is not ventilated, but the back is wide open and I have an ac vent that blows directly into it... though I don't run it all the time...
