Recording vox using speakers for monitoring

Hi, I've hear of people using a small set of monitors while recording vocals, rather than headphones.

Does anyone know the exact way to do this, to achieve the least amount of leakage?

I've heard something about recording the monitors by themselves, and then the vocals, reversing the phase of one of the tracks and blending. It does get rid of the bottom end leakage, but not the high frequencies.

Any ideas?

George

If you flip the phase in one of the monitors, Is not the singer going feel strange ? I mean, he is going to hear an out of phase playback.

I´ve heard that many peolpe do this in live gigs but I sounds strange to me. Am I wrong ?

no the singer is listening in stereo sounds fine.but the mic in mono has phaze cancelation..there is more leakage than good headphones especially in the upper frequency range, but it is an alternative..have done it many times for singers.
