Thread Starter | How dub multiple takes but mix them understandble
Hi guys, I'm still facting troubles with dubbing vocals. I'm making a party record and have only 1 male singer. I made him do 8 dubs for certain parts which I double in 4 stereo pairs, a few completely panned, others somewhat less panned etc. Now the result is not very bad but not too fantastic either i.o.w. there's a lot of room for improvement. The main problem I face is that occasionally, you can't really understand what he is actually saying because it all just seems to overlap each other. Now, honestly, it must be me and not the singer as the single tracks (those that are not dubbed) are perfectly understandable. I recorded them with a TC Gold Channel ( Puke puke I know ) through a Prism ADA8 ADDA digitally. I dubbed them in Pro Tools and then I sent the Prism to an SSL4000E and did the processing there. All is fine except the group dubs. ( For those who wonder why I didn't use the SSL PreAmps in the first place, I'm awaiting my DL cables to connect the mics....) Thanks for any tips and tricks on this one. Kind Regards Lawrence. |

how tight are the tracks with each other? Maybe they are loose and therefore unclear. Sorry if, I've missed the point and am stating the obvious ![]() all the best anyhow

use different people for the voices perhaps? - rule no#37B-(sub-a, par' 234) - never do all your own BV's cos it mixes oddly cos the voices are all the same person |

If you're referring to how they match with the beat, the answer is very close. Timing isn't the problem. I've been talking with some people and apparently I'm panning the dubs too wide and I seem to be a little too enthousiastic with the effects. Voices have never been my strongest point damn... Thanks anyway, regards Lawrence | |
