| well first off what do you want to record? midi info ? (from a rack, keyboard, drum machine etc...) or actual samples? and yes you can record an enormus amount of sequences in the same song with multiple instruments (for example I can plug up to 4 midi devices (rack synth...) with 16 channels each directly in my MPC 2500)

| Just for general information...even though many hardware sequencers won't record two different channels to two different tracks at once, MOST will record multiple channels to a single track. Then you can filter the data to as many tracks as you want. So you really aren't limited as it would seem |

ok but can you filter it by the midi routing? so does the mpc do 2 tracks on 2 channels? or 2 channels on 1 track ?

| I THINK....not sure...thsat the MPC only records one input at a time. However...say you were using a controller with two or three zones assigned....it would recall all three and maintain the channelization. Then you could filter out each channel to discteet tracks...which could be sent wherever. Some sequencers call it 'unmix" or similar. Some sequencers might want to be in omni for recording like that. |
