adam a7 tweeter blown

seems one of the tweeters in my new A7's has blown - but with no sudden volume or anything, just noticed it - so, back it goes, but before it does, is there anything I could check to make sure it really is blown? Anyone else had this problem with A7's?

I had some issues with one not having the same power output as the other. My dealer brought me a new pair. I have since upgraded to P33's.....Adam makes killer monitors.

adam a7 tweeter blown

i played my oscillator through the alesis mixer. signal went to adam a7's through balanced xlr's. since i was connected to a macintosh through the firewire and couldn't get the signal at the time, i cranked up the signal.
suddenly, there was a gust of smoke coming out from the a7 speakers.
i switched the power off.
after a bit, i tested adam's again and they didn't work. my tweeters on both monitors are kind of bent.
after an hour i tryed again and everything seemed to be fine.
however, the tweeters are visually damaged, even though i couldn't detect any change in the sound quality.
monitors are just over a year old and still under warranty.
should i ask for a replacement? any experience on this issue?

Probably not your best move. As I understand it, cranking a test tone through a set of monitors isn't a great idea...

That would probably have been your tweeters blowing.

It's probably not. The folded ribbons can still function when they're damaged, but they usually don't function exactly the way they're supposed to.

No driver damaged/blown by user abuse is covered under warranty (by any speaker manufacturer I know of).

You should probably buy a new set of tweeters.

Hope that helps some...

Yup - someone did it with S3As a few years back, if memory serves...
