Something about the language makes me wonder if it's a joke...but I find the concept really interesting. For a label working with music as 'just' a product HSS, or something like it, could prove very helpful.

"Polyphonic's HSS analyzes the underlying mathematical patterns in unreleased music and compares them to the patterns in recent hit songs."

With something specific like that I can imagine some information could be attained. Basically it's not finding 'hits', it's seeking repeating patterns of successful formula, whether as a whole the song 'comes together' I don't think a computer could tell.

It surprising there's not more software available along these lines for labels, writers and producers.

It's something that could open out more understanding...most of which is probably audible to a trained ear, but if it helps....great.

This is no harder, nor easier than to make a software program that actually writes scores for the hits.

And I guess you know how successfull that kind of programs are..
