Jackie Wilson Said It - Who Wrote It?

Bob Olhsson, were you there at the time, or did you ever talk about the song to someone who was there?

The song is, "Reet Petite."

I have read that:
A. Barry Gordy wrote it.
B. Jackie Wilson wrote it.
C. Barry Gordy and Jackie Wilson wrote it.
D. None of the above.

Any information would be appreciated. No burning question, mind you, but I've always liked the song and I've always liked Van Morrison's homage to it in, "Jackie Wilson Said."

PS, Is Jackie Wilson still in an unmarked grave or did he finally get a tombstone?

It was written by "Billy" ROQUEL DAVIS and BERRY GORDY JR. This was long before my time but they were both utterly awesome and brilliant songwriters.

Billy Davis, who passed away recently, went his own way and after a stint at Chess became a major advertising executive while Berry Gordy started the management-publishing company in Detroit that would evolve into Motown which was his partnership with Smokey Robinson.

Barry Gordy is legendary. But I didn't know about Mr. Davis. I looked up info on "Billy" ROQUEL DAVIS and I am impressed. His co-write of "Lonely Teardrops" alone should be enough to assure his place in history. Not to mention, "Rescue Me" and some of the most famous singing commercials. "Awesome songwriter" is right.
