need help using a gate via an effects loop on a amp head

hello.

i just jumped from using rack mount pre amps/power amps to using a good old head(peavey jsx).

my rack mount preamp (rocktron voodoo valve)had a wonderfull hush/noise gate on it that kept the amp dead quiet.

i need this with my new rig but i dont know how to obtain it. do i run a gate pedal through the effects loop? if so, can someone recomend specific gates to use.
i play metal so i run the amp gain really hot so i need a tight, fast gate.

or can i just use the hush on my voodoo valve in the loop?

ps-the noise gate feature on the jsx itself is totally useless.

thanks -jay

I've got a 5150. Get a Boss NS2 pedal and run the effect send into the in of the boss and out of the boss into jsx return. It'll do the trick.

I wonder, if i use my Zoom G9 effects processor in FX Loop of my Engl Se head, the noise gate of Zoom should do the trick too, right?
