Quick OS X help - British english spell check please!!

I am having a nightmare with this.

Words like organisation and colour are always underlined red, because Americans spell it with Zs or like 'color'. For this internet I don't mind, I usually go with it, and for a lot of words I think I've learned into that (wrong in UK) way of spelling it.

I have a major business plan/funding application which I wanted to send off today, and certainly by tomorrow. There is no way I can come across as professional with wrong spellings - I can have a go but I think I've learned so many American ways that I might miss some!

I have searched the net, and it is a common problem, but it hasn't solved the problem for me, which makes me wonder if I am missing something really simple here.

- Go to preferences>international, and click edit, and add 'British English' and drag it to the top of the list. Log out or restart and the apps should do British spellings.

I have done this. It has not worked, seemingly. I NEED THIS FIXED ASAP! I am going to miss out on a major opportunity here!

Thank you if anyone can help.

Okay, this is weird - it seems now that the spell check is working in everything including safari and pages - but NOT in the one file I need it on! I can have one pages page open and the spell check is doing its job in British, but another page with the plan open and it is stuck in american!

Any ideas, or better forums to try asking at?!

I don't think that what you are trying to do is relevant. No matter what rule you use to spell-check in your computer, the moment the file is opened on the other side, it will be spell-checked again according to that computer's rule setting anyway.

You just do what you do and send it over.

Nope, it will get printed at my place and posted.

I've solved it, just had to copy and paste everything to a new document then patiently copy specific formatting from the other template. I guess old documents don't accept the update to the settings somehow.

Glad something booted me into making my mac 'British' though!
