| I just checked in after a while...WOW...you guys are unbelievable...I'm the OP ...you guys sure have taken this to new heights...since I started this.... I have to say.... Henry is a true trooper.... who cares who's gay?...what is this? 1916? Butterfly has an open mind....Ddubba (or whatever) sure doesn't.. Katy is a great pop singer... I guess it makes people feel good to shit on others hard work.... I have kissed a girl (once or twice) and I kinda liked it too Did we ever find out who mixed this single? The dude who mixed this did a great job. Most of us here couldn't have done as good a job. He/she deserves a little praise. Does anyone here actually go to work? Nick |

but what makes you think there was hard work involved? I mean if we're supposed to throw heaps of praise on people for hard work, maybe we're praising the wrong people.

I admire some people's work GREATLY...why should I admire this? That seems silly. Does everyone have to admire every pop song that comes down the pike? You must have known when you posted this that it would get shit on. This sort of music, these sorts of artists, always get shit on. Madonna made a career out of getting shit on.

i don't see anything in the lyric regarding whether she would or wouldn't have sex. imo, the song captures a pretty common dynamic for young ladies in this day and age. it does so in a pretty simple fashion, but hey, it's pop. gregoire del ubk .

Well, America seems to be ****ed up...mtv has a great comic by the name of Russel Brand. An edgy comic sure. He makes fun of promise rings or GW and hes crucified while all the acts on the awards show seem to be extras from a prono site. The juxtaposition of promise rings and the dance acts was quite hilarious. I mean, what is rock and roll? Fo **** sake. Its vanished in the last 15 years. Everything is edited and disneyfied to death. With just the right amount of violence and sex, but not too much. We want it but we don't want it. Holy crap. We aren't helping our repressed prutian image we have around the world

| You're a one trick pony Franky. Now that we've seen your trick why don't you try a new one, or leave?

| I can't believe there is such a discussion on the lyrical topic of that song. they just make what sells. the song is on the tv here all the time now too but I can't remember anyone here feeling offended or confused by the lyrics... I mean wtf? if it's past 9 pm here the girls in the video could take their strap ons and bend over and noone would actually wonder. now if that's sad or not.. I don't care so much. the song is catchy, the production whatever... but what was a bit embarrassing: she was on a tv show here last night singing live... pretty awful, also unsexy dancing/movements and herself looking like a mix between a housewife and joker, complete turnoff. pretty ironic, considering the theme of the song. |

| So, after listening to the full album in proper quality I really gotta correct my last post. The production is really good, very colour- and playful (esp. "Ur so gay"), fits the songs very well. its usually not my favourite kind of music but I can't deny that "I kissed a girl" is a damn earwig and I don't get rid of it. Help! so, kudos to the people involved, it seems you've done your job very well. |

| I think as far as pop songs goes, this is great little catchY chune, capitalizing on obvious club/porno trends as two girls kissing and non lesbos engaging in this act just for attention. I think the production is pretty sweet as well, I may buy the song just to be able to hear it on my monitors. This song is also capitalizing on the electro trend off the chorus with the obvious saw/square synth bass, some of you trainspoters that dont watch all markets might miss that. I didnt quite see who produced it because in the beggining of the thread 4 different dudes were mentioned, whoever did definitely knows the trends well. Im starting to totally look/hear pop music differently lately, used to be a slight hater, because, well, in the type of music I do produce, house music mainly, your raised to think pop is the enemey. Now I realize that mentality is fools of the underground, that essentially need pop music to exist in order for non pop styles to thrive and be compard to. ![]() Pop production to me is as a very challenging game, not so much art or even, should I dare say "music" . You have to know every little move and trend that exists in the world and combine that to make a song that sounds like a million other songs but some how will still surprise/inspire not only the jaded listener but even other producers. Not to mention you have to compete with the biggest richest most knowledgeable producers/players in the world. |
